Everyone, including Microsoft, has waited for Vista to be released retail before handling Vista incompatibilities. Of the big ones I know of, Visual Studio also does not officially have Vista Support, and Vista RTM warns you of this when you install it.
Linux and Solaris have a similar learning curve if you're coming from a non-UNIX(like) environment, one isn't any harder to learn then the other. On top of that when you are used to only Windows, Linux is harder. Everything you don't know is harder then what you do know.
Don't treat them as such. Their influence begins and ends with the game. They can punish cheating in the game but not breaking into someone's computer outside the game.
"'When we announce our next MMORPG it's not going to be another WOW--we're not a company that tends to tread the same ground,' he told British film magazine Empire. 'It'll be something innovative and new that really brings entertainment to another level.'
Innovative. Not like when they released Warcraft 2 then 3 then a MMO based on Warcraft. It will be new, innovative just like the last time they got innovative.
It will be Universe of Starcraft. New and innovative, never been done before.
The other thing that I wonder why other file systems haven't adopted is NTFS's alternate streams. They seem like they could be really useful for some stuff
Organization and display are not the same thing. You want to see all the files you own, but do you really want all the files you own in one, jumbled, disorganized place?
WIth a traditional filesystem you could have links stored in (guess what) another directory where you would organize your access to your organized files. Eventually, you will have a filesystem that manages metadata and you would probably have a 'search folder' that would automatically display all files and folders that match a query, in this case all files and folders you own.
However, you still have your files organized in folders that keeps like files together and unrelated files apart.
Thank you John for saying the obvious. Wait for Vista and DX10 to be fully supported (ie DX10 video cards) before upgrading. Right now there is, what, 2-3 Video cards that are DX10 cards? Obviously the safe thing to do is wait for a bit.
What John or anyone else says doesn't matter. People who have to get the latest will get Vista as soon as they can, a lot of other people will wait. John could say never get Vista or get Vista right now and the same thing would happen.
Jobs says get a Mac. How many here are going to get one just because Jobs said so? Now how many are going to hold off on Vista because Carmack said to.
Ya, I'm on the edge of my seat. It will get adopted as a standard or it won't. Office will use it either way and anyone wanting to interoperate with Office will have to try to implement it as well.

I requested them mid-december I think it was. They arrived last week.

Damnit, don't work and post people
Should have said:
You have a surprise coming to you if you think any of that gives you job security.
If you think you have a surprise coming to you if you think any of that gives you job security.
You mean the XServe, XRaid and XSan were intended for grandma?

Who told you you couldn't put linux on the PS3?
It's A Trap!
We never landed on the Moon
Geez, I thought everyone knew that.
If you're running Vista as a server you're already stupid enough to run beta software on a production 'server.'
It will be Universe of Starcraft. New and innovative, never been done before.
Exactly how is it less usable then XP. They pretty much both work.
Iceland will be very happy to hear this.
The BSD IP stack was replaced with Windows 2000. That stack was again replaced in Vista.

Thats a great idea, they could call it Sea Monkey.

Isn't expanding oblivion just creating more of nothing?
I've heard this before somewhere. Wait, replace Vista with XP and XP with 2000 and it's like I'm back in 2001.

40 (rods / hogshead) = 0.00198412698 miles / US gallon
And to be more on topic:
40 (rods / hogshead) = 0.000843539098 km / L
You probably also don't have an answer for the question either so not knowing the acronyms isn't much of a problem.
vas is dos?
