www, www2, and www3 are host names, slashdot is a domain, com is a top level domain. Well often www is just a common name for another host, but it has nothing to do with the domain the site is in, or the service it provides.
You mean like the swarms and swarms of people that signed up for DSL and cable when it became available? It didn't happen then, it wont happen now, how do you justify $50/month to receive e-mail.
So you don't expect a Canadian to like hockey or ski? A Brit to have bad teeth? An Irishman or a Scotsman to be a drunk or at least prone to have a little too much? A European to be unshaven? Everyone does it all the time, previous experience with a fair number of one group gives you a basis with what to expect with other members of the same group. This isn't the same question 'if someone jumped off of a bridge would you,' its 'When you meet an american what do you expect.' I never said or implied that because you are an american you have to be a drooling, ignorant redneck, I said stop whining that thats what people have come to expect from an american thanks to your fellow americans.
Not quite, I am assuming that Orkut itself is an international site, and considering Google has localized sites for its browser, it seems to be a good assumption. It wasn't created for Brazillians to meet other Brazillians, but for anyone anywhere to meet and interact with people.
Ya well I'm sick of hearing Americans whine about stereotypes and attempting to act hurt because 'nobody likes me.' Truth is Americans that show up somewhere, act like they're god and expect everyone to do things their way is the *norm*. If you actually make any sort of effort to learn something about the locals, you are in the minority. As such, it is to be expected that they are not going to want to have anything to do with you. Its a reputation your country earned so live with it. Your so proud to be an American, thats what you associate your self with by proclaiming it.
You might have had a point if English wasn't the accepted norm for international communications and just something the States imposed on everyone. However English is the accepted language, so it makes sense that sites that are targeted at an international audience use English or keep everyone apart and just have localized versions. Not that I really care, I'm never invited to anything.
Your probably still holding on to your bubble salaries, which means your over paid, consider it your long overdue return to reality.
An actor goes south, even a bad actor, for two things, greed and the chance to be in something that people actually watch they rarely satisfy either, though I would have a root canal before watching the crap that gets put on the air because it has to be x% Canadian content.
How is this insightful? Whether you're a student a journalist or a bum, if you do something illegal, you better be prepared for the consequences. If they thought they were going to get off scott-free, well its about time they entered the real world isn't it.
The student bode does have a right to take action on the insecurity of the network, but through official channels. The administration may not be forthcoming with the information or quick to act on it, but that still does not give the students to circumvent the law. Britain has some really paranoid privacy laws, so if Oxford is so reluctant to fix potential problems or even refuses an audit that the student body could request, chances are Oxford is now breaking some of those laws, and that will bring changes, and all of this still through legal official channels.
Calling someone or yourself a 'white-hat' hacker does not magically put you above the law.
Customers are often far more pragmatic then fans. When Red Hat ditched Red Hat Linux in favor of RHEL, the fans whined and went to Debian, whereas customers thought for a moment and realize RHEL had better support and were therefor happier.
I don't know about you but I've never run KDE on anything faster then a P2 350 and it runs just fine here. Only difference is that I compile KDE my self.
You could argue that Linux was a factor if it was a move from 2003 to Linux, though to back that up you'd have to show that Linux handles assloads of threads better then 2003 does. Solaris on the other hand does handle assloads of threads and then some just fine, its one of Solaris's selling points and as far as I know it does handle them better then Linux currently does. So they may have lost performance by choosing Linux over Solaris, but that was more then made up for in the consolidation.
I always wondered why that teapot was a standard privative in 3d Studio Max. Also another siting they don't seem to have in there is the 3d pipes screen saver. If you changed the joint options to 'Mixed' on the 3d pipes screensaver in Windows and watch it for a while, some of the joints will be that teapot.
He's just upset that he doesn't get to run around with a potty mouth.
But who cares, PBS sucks now, they used to have Nova specials on all the time and some really interesting shows but all they do now is pander to the type of person that has no interest in learning anything new.
Now hold on let me get this straight. What the Japanese did in war was murder, but the dropping of 2 nuclear weapons on civilians was a blessing? Been into the nationalism punch have we?
Many historians also disagree with the assertation that it was required to end the war in the pacific, since the Japanese were already pressing for peace, the Americans were already looking to the next war and needed a way to intimidate the Soviet Union. Instead of linking to a site I'll just link to a Google search Was the Bomb necessary.
He's only part of 'computer lore' because every wannabe keeps talking about him, hanging on his every word like a bunch of school girls and try to turn him into some sort of hero.
He's a criminal, a convicted felon plain and simple. Unfortunately till these damn wannabes grow up he's always going to have an audience of idiots waiting to pay for his next book.
a surprisingly good gaming experience
Are they saying they were surprised it worked well, or surprised it was an enjoyable game?
You mean the NSAKEY that turned out to be nothing?
Ya I think its great, no ads.

No he's right it was a typo.

Well I think I'm gonna give it a shot next week.

Thats some crystal ball you have there. Can you tell me what stocks I should buy?

Now now now, O'Reilly, no need to post anonymously. You're gonna have that gnome inserted into you either way.

Unix nerds would alreay be doing it with a very small shell script.
Well all of our devices use DC and have to convert the AC to DC, so wouldn't it be more efficient to simply have DC to the device in the first place.
Yes I'm being an idiot.
