The whole N-Gage thing was dead before the product hit the shelves! Especially considering it's size, it's a mediocre compromise of technologies at best.
That thing is basically analogous to a gamer buying a motherboard with everything integrated like a bid'ness PC. Your phone, PDA, and gaming system are all lumped into one...that means so are all the features and upgrade paths. No thank you. I'll stick to separate components if I want a portable game system. Or wait for a palm PC with a nice graphics chipset/card.
I think todays nerd/geek is basically anyone who is overly passionate about their hobby.
I mean tons of people play games but as said there are even the nerds amoung nerds... those who eat sleep and breathe the stuff. And that can be said of any technology or hobby. It use be that anything computer related was nerdy, because that in itself was out of the norm... but now that PC's are the norm the "nerd" is one who is overly involved to the point of affecting their social behavior or even just involved way more than any of their peer group.
Why all the name calling?!! geez, you'd think I insultted yo' mamma or something! You guys getting paid by Intel?!
anyway... I think this is where you all are getting confused. I never said Pentium M!! I said Centrino. The P-M is the one based off the PIII. Centrino is not!
um... transistor count doesn't necessarily mean faster. Just more $$, heat, electricity and "stuff" to have to use (read: time/delay)
It's the efficiency of the layout and internal code that makes a chip a real screamer. if you want a comparison...Intel P4 chips are around 178mil transistors--Nvidia's NV40 chips are around 220mil AND more efficient. (side note: if NVIDIA or ATI made an x86 CPU, all these discussions would be over real quick.)
P.S. Intel didn't design the Centrino CPU's...some 3rd party Indian fab did. And they look a lot more like an AMD or Motorola chip than an Intel.
No... no one EVER wins when the government has the ability to just "declare" something is no longer property of who owned it.
It's fine if it's something you want done...but remember, the precedent now set, they can do it to YOU! State governments have been doing this for ages... for ex. West Virginia can just come and take all your land or even tell you to move if they find a good natural resource (oil, coal, natural gas, etc.) on it since they "own" all natural resources and would deem yours a profitable one for the state as a whole.
I hate monopolies as much as the next guy, but the second the government takes action beyond just legislation or regulations--be afraid...be very afraid.
Um... except that SBC would have spent all that money to lay them. How would the government own something they didn't install? Wait...don't answer that.:(
Impressive for a "free" product I guess... but considering that's over 4 years and multiple companies it's just a blip on the corporate radar. In fact, considering the purpose of Linux, would one even WANT to brag about how much Linux has made? Isn't that just signs of Linux heading down a different road but arriving at the same destination?
Crap. I'm downloading it. It's like the big red button with a sign that says DO NOT PUSH. Well, now I HAVE to even though I know it will only lead to a dark and scarey place;)
Yes you can. The power is running on the same wires as the data. This is roughly the same technology as Broadband Over Power. The power is 60Hz but the data is MHz...or in your case, GHz. Little to no crosstalk.
Ah, guess it's my ignorance for not knowing the sections. The articles just pop up for me in Trillian, doesn't mention what section they're in I guess. Wonder why it made the list if it's just a standard question post.
Oh well... my bad. (sheepish grin)
Some people have to reach WAAAAAY into the box for a joke. Even if they don't reflect the facts of the article.
For some, just the mention of the word Microsoft is a good enough reason to attempt a joke I guess.

Like lasers on CPU's? :D

...and yes I noticed the "week" the second I posted. Time to move on to more important things now like watching paint dry!
Uh, no... some people prolly thought he was just being funny and don't realize it really does smell like that. :p
You are the weekest troll...GOODBYE!
No really... he's serious. The smell is akin to old used oil like in fast food places you smell. Now just starting your car will make you hungry.
Next time you go to a gas station instead of fill 'er up...just say Super Size me! :D
Okay, I really like Dell's and think they're one of the best mass produced boxes...
But THAT was funny. ;)
Microsoft made $36.84bn in 2004 alone.
Go Linux! (rolling eyes)

Just some rambling thoughts. ;)
LOL!! :D

Oh duh... that's right gig over copper does that.
Still, like I said... MHz. Way out of the range of 60Hz.

Ah, finally an intelligent comment! Bravo!
There is a huge difference between having the power to block the sun and actually turning it off. ...just something to ponder.
Well, shoot... what's the point of joining a MAC ellitist community if you don't even have to own a MAC?!
Course that's the best of both worlds...all the benefits without actually having to touch one of those things. ;)
This comment tells me you are abosultely NOT an IT staff person in any way shape or form.
Now run along and go back out to your garage and work on your Camaro. ;)
I heard you guys are finally getting your own secret decoder rings... is this really true?
;)

I'm sorry, but when did we become a tech support forum. No offense, but do some friggen' research. (roll eyes)
