Women aren't passionate/satisfied with technology alone as males, they are more interrested in social relations, showing off to their female friends etc.
Hence, not being something that made as much money as they thought it would, IT not being "cool" anymore is making them look for the next big FOOBAR that they beleive will change their lives (however it most likely won't).
Well, i bet most people who reads that article doesn't know the difference between http and mail.. "Oh, yeah, mail, i can do that on a website!" -- typical hotmail user
You could download copyrighted material (as you can with all other p2p networks - would the students care about anything else than the latest R&B albums or the latest action movie?)
Spreading your own works (music for instance) is a good thing to do over filesharing networks if someone downloads it.. However I assume that mp3.com (if it still existed) or similar would be a far better place as in the file sharing networks there is such a massive load of stuff available that you have to search specific things which i seldom beleive will be nothing but specific titles of copyrighted albums, movies, games etc.
Anyone have experience with this? Is spreading your own unique creations really worth it over p2p networks? I would doubt that it is, but again, I wouldn't know..
So, you can skin KDE itself, right?
In terms of skinning I want nothing more than a customized skin that covers all applications. Currently that is only true for Trillian..
The key to fooling users to install something:
- Disguise the program as a new game from Microsoft
- Include the standard MS EULA, 25 pages long (noone reads that anyway and it looks authentic)
- Lean back and wait for the results
Oh shit! That message doesn't sound at all script-kiddie-ish...! Could this mean that the worm is the work of an SCO employee?;)
Is Kopete equal to Trillian?

KDE 3.2.0 Released

One thing that i noticed is their instant messaging application - it seems to be a bit like Trillian on windows.. Has any of you experienced this and can tell the difference?
"kde 3.2 as just bin released. da official announcement is available at da kde site and da source tarballs is bein replicated to da mirrors. there is already binary packages fa a few distritubions. besides da usual bugfixes and new features, dis release as bin ighly optimized and runs way fasta than previous versions. dis is a wicked opportunity fa windows users to migrate to a free desktop."
get da plop now!
"Heck, we can't use the companies that offer mirroring services - they're all running linux! Quick! Go buy 10000 Windows Server 2003 boxen, we need to setup some mirrors!"
there is nothing wrong with flash itself, it's the people who use it that are misusing it. If you use flash the right way (yes i also hate these "designer" sites) you will end up with less CPU-occupying sites.. The usability factor is especially apparent when collecting information from the visitors...
I'd say you don't need a research project to find out "how hackers think".. Just understand the fact that hacking a microsoft box is nothing special, it's done everyday and the really good hackers wouldn't do this joke of a project anyway as it would expose the exploits they use so that Microsoft can fix those flaws.. Also, hackers use creative thinking and lots of social engineering - they can write that in the report and that's all there is to it.
Yeah, people in general only listen to what's told to them. That's why marketing and propaganda of this grade actually works. It's not surprising if this is some business war in the background headed by Microsoft to damage Linux's reputation in the "business" world. Opensource could use several more of similar court dealings and the whole matter would be over. Question is, will the people who beleive SCO's propaganda claims understand that?

The movie industry beleives people won't buy their discs if "DVD" isn't in the name. That's why. Quality is irrelevant in this case.. ;)
well, it's coded in ASP wich really doesn't make things better.. ;)

Maybe Steve Jobs order a lot of DVD's online... He needs to streamline the ordering process.
