Bikes also have two skinny tires with small contact areas instead of a car's four wider tires with much larger contact areas.

It's surprisingly difficult to find concrete data on stopping distances, but here's something from a credible looking source: the best stopping distance from 48 km/h was 10.40 meters for a Yamaha FJR 1300 without ABS. That's already longer than your performance and only at 60% of the speed. Unfortunately, they only have one other test speed which is 129 km/h where the Yamaha was again best at 67.5 meters. That's more than double of what a good car can achieve from 100 km/h but of course different speeds make it hard to compare these numbers.

    Here's the test:

Do you have any evidence that the car is unsafe? It seems to have done pretty well in EuroNCAP type test. It also probably handles as well if not better than most Toyotas and has better steering feedback as well. It's also rear engined and RWD, so it's just like a Porsche! I'm sure it will suck for hammering down the Autobahn at 250 km/h but then so will a Prius and in any case it's not its intended primary use anyway.

Basically, it seems to be as "good" as a Smart car, but with a reasonable price tag. If you still think it's too dangerous, how safe do you want to make it? S-class safe? If that's good enough, how did you come to the conclusion? Why not make it WRC-car safe? GT-car safe?

Why would you be glad if India decided it's not safe enough? Didn't you state at the beginning that the Nano was good enough for that society? The only thing banning it will achieve now is that fewer people will have access to a reasonably safe four-wheel vehicle. I don't even see how this would create more total deaths as most people would simply be switching from shittier methods of transport instead of just going out and buying a brand new car as their first vehicle.

"Noble savages" for aliens who a have different skin tone, elvish ears and motherfucking flying dragons, greedy white man stealing the alien's natural resources, etc. Uh-oh.

Also, I hope there's a good reason why they can redirect a human's consciousness into an alien, but can't heal partial paralysis. Other than that, the trailer looks good visually... but they have James fucking Cameron directing the movie and the trailer says "From the Director of Titanic"?! To be fair, that's exactly what automatic transmissions are.

Cloud computing, on the other hand, doesn't just dumb everything down for the end user, but give a huge amount of flexibility in terms of how you can use it. I think one of the most useful aspects is painless scaling, which just isn't possible if you just keep the server in your closet. Of course it's not the solution to every problem, but I think cloud computing is extremely useful for startups or setting up various test projects, among other things.

I see how you could think that I'm claiming every single PC ever made has tv-out, that was poor wording on my part there. Of course I did not mean to claim that, just that most of the computers which can/are being used for gaming have tv-out. I'm not writing my thesis here, but I'm not just making shit up either; I'm basing that claim on my experience with the cards I listed, as well as the trends I see in new hardware. For instance, even in <$100 category, most cards have analog or HDMI output. If that still doesn't match the input on your TV, you probably need to get a better TV. Or an adapter to whatever video-in it has, that could also work.

Also, Bluetooth dongles are cheaper than dirt so that's not really a problem.

I can't really speak for sports games since I haven't played those in ages, but console ports are all shit by default, and I'm always surprised when one turns out not to be completely terrible in every way.

I'd say that by now pretty much all PCs have an analog TV-out. I know my 10 year old laptop I keep in the kitchen does, as did my 9600Pro, GeForce 6600, and 8800GT. It seems like that's a standard even for onboard graphics nowadays. I agree that most people probably don't have their PCs connected to the TV, but that's not because anything is preventing that.

As for controllers, most fighting or sports games (basically, the only genres that aren't a huge pain to play with more people) support more than one controller. Something like the PC version of Street Fighter 4 lets you press a button on any of the connected controllers to assign that controller that player. I'd assume it works the exact same way in sports games, except with more total players. Anybody knows if the latest FIFA/PES supports 22 players simultaneously? If they don't that's just a design choice on the side of the developers, and not a limitation of the platform.

Not that I'm defending the program, IMO it's ridiculous for a number of reasons, including the broken window fallacy, having it effectively set a price floor on used cars, and a bunch of others economic and philosophical reasons.

It seems like a similar program would be introduced here too, but in addition to the usual problems, the requirements and the actual subsidy are such that it makes sense to almost nobody. Basically, you'll be able to get rid of a very old, very cheap car (== a complete shitbox because of age requirements and the subsidy amount) and replace it with a shitty, cheap, low performance new car (because of the requirements of CO2 emissions, price and some other parameters). Unfortunately it was snatched on one of the school trips, so while it's not cluttering up my drawer somewhere, I do still have the kit earbuds. From what I can remember about it, it was a model related to the WM-FX211, though not this exact one. It had auto stop, Mega bass and all the other cool toys. I could even use it as a desktop clock by opening the tape door! Oh, and it was some sort of metallic gray color, which this model was apparently not available in.

Anyway, I'd certainly be willing to volunteer to use a walkman for a week. While the cheap knockoffs (or just older models?) tended to occasionally chew up the tape, I don't remember this ever happening with my Walkman while I was listening to Ace of Base and all the other cheesy 90s crap.

PS. Now that I think about it, I also had some AC/DC tapes for my Walkman, so it wasn't all that bad.
