It should also be noted that why doesn't Macintosh have the same problem if they cater to 'complete retards'
Using basic logic it becomes clear that the 'dumb user' argument is completely moot, and likely a symptom of deep seeded career regret on the part on the sys-admin:)
While I've noticed some of the Indian people I work with are quiet and don't rock the boat, I consider it a cultural thing- sort of like how you would zip your mouth in a Honda Design meeting. Also there are plently of outspoken Indian people I work with. So obviously- let's forget the blatent stereotyping. It serves no one It seems to me most of the comments below are having trouble with this and miss the point in the process.
The interesting thing is companies are using this outsourcing thing as FUD to tow their bottom lines. This is standard practice during recession and visions of Roger, GM and Capt. Da (Da-Da for short) are grossly exaggerated.
Thank god we don't have a union to negotiate our jobs away rather than a common readjusting of our worth as IT workers in North American society like our poor friends the American Autoworker.
The parent comment is spot on in asserting "The Outsourcing Movement is NOT a drive to offer better service, or find better talent, or even save real money. It's a drive to LOOK like they are". The good news is, things are not as bad as they seem.
The IT Workers Bottom line: You want your job to be safe? That is entirely up to you. But in reality no job is safe.
Your take on Sega's downfall is as convoluted as it is wrong.
The Saturn did not succeed, because it lacked games- stemming from their choice of graphics hardware (based on PowerVR) that did not use traditional triangles as its primitive. This made things very annoying for developers.
Your point that people by this time no longer trusted Sega is simply misguided, as the Dreamcast easily outperformed the Saturn on all fronts.
The DS is also not an add on, so even bringing up the 32X and Sega CD is moot.
Personally I'm interested in what the DS might have to bring to the table, however I for one would have preferred a horizontal screen orientation as opposed to vertical.
Ok. In reading the letter from SCO I noticed one thing: He is crying for the right to have his profits protected through an antiquated patent system that gives exclusivity to technology that is mainstream in less than six months, and yet in almost the same paragraph he proclaims Red Hat, a company dealing exclusively in open source is lobbying for the opposite- software being exempt from the patent process, so to speak. So now how on earth does Red Hat make money exactly, if by SCOs assertion, GPL is fine for innovation but eats at the heart of capitalism? Seems they they make enough money to realize that its in their best interest to continue down the GPL road.
Face it SCO and Corporate America. The old ways of making software and controlling information are practically broke. Its up to you as a profit generator to learn how to drive future profits.
I'll tell you one thing: its definately not up to the Government forcing consumers to consume your product.
The only message I get from this letter is: ph33r teh c0mmun15m I think moussoulini said Facism is actually corporatism. Day by day this is becoming "patently" obvious.
A little more readable this time:

My roommate and I just compared his brand new controllers with old ones.
This is most noticable on the analog sticks. But every surface on a new playstation controller is matted as such that my theory may have some basis.
I should like to point out that most politicians, including senators, run their own small to large businesses, of all shapes and sizes in some way- keeping their hands far enough away to avoid conflict of interest.
Do you really think that THEIR companies don't spam people?
And of course the usual suspect lobbies don't help much either, considering this is also politics + business.
Yet another example of life imitating the simpsons (art?)
In other news: things are looking good for medicinal marijuana, richard simmons robots, and psychadelic slurpees.
Does anyone know when this will happen?
I live a few blocks from the Supreme Court and I will be there alone if I have to, protesting this ridiculous request.
Apathy breeds ignorance.
Yes, as I'm well aware and this is a complete blessing.
However, there is no reason that other content providers couldn't do this and make money on existing and/or defunct content.
just an off the cuff example: Why not reproduce "The Jetsons" or something else on the cheap (flash), having rookie animators cut their teeth on the show, and use it to drive kids to your multi-faceted, money making website afterschool.
What can I say other than it seems to me the BBC has an amazing handle on the Internet, and how to use it to its fullest potential. It seems every week something prompts me to say out loud: "BBC Rules!"......In fact, so much more than any other pre-internet broadcaster I have seen. "Major Kudos", its nice to watch some Doctor for the first time in a long time.
They are definately biased.
And I swear, if I got some pudgy maxim readin shmuck, and Tommy Tallarico reprazentin for mah crew then a show be having problems.
On a plus side, Tommy has more onscreen presence than his music does in my games (*mute*)
But then again I guess I'm biased too:)
TV for gamers is tres lame.
Anyone remember Gamepro on Saturday mornings? or my canuck friends: GameNation starring "surfer dood" and "ted the head" ? *shudder*
I think the point is that in his example, the process is *less* secure than it already is (which it isn't really).
As for OSS voting machines? Yeah thats a great idea. As long as everyone can look at or tinker with the source code, no one will ever come up with a way to hack the current build. Yay.
Accountability, along with checks is balances isn't worth a hill of beans- especially when it comes to elections. whats done is done once its done. Ask Florida.

Ironically I tried-
I spent a whole day on it, then let my dog chew it up. Later, I busted him trying to bury it in the back yard.

We all make mistakes, so forgive me for laughing at all those in general who made the same assumption:
:P
:D
20% of 15 = ~2
You were hardly the first in this very thread to make that mistake.
No wonder OSS is taken about as seriously as lockheed martin these days (props to JPL btw).

You do on older Playstation controllers or ones that are sufficiently worn.
I've often theorized that this is because of the finely irregular surface of the controller, allowing a small amount of airflow.
After heavy use, the plastic wears down and becomes shiny...and voila, my hands begin to sweat during those marathon Budokai 2 or VF sessions.
Anyone agree?
I also have a spacepen. And it sounds like you have a lemon.
Mine has been idle for years (since I got a keyboard) and it works like the day I got it.
Upside down and underwater no less.

The email is Secure and "private" eh?
Nothing like providing a false sense of privacy to catch dissidents.

I'm not completely surprised that no one has read this as I'm probably at the depths of modded-down hell.
But seriously folks not ONE PERSON i have read in this thread supposes doing a damn thing about this?
Sounds like I'll be lonely in the front of the canadian supreme court come monday morning.
Absolutely disgusting.
