Going back to the moon...?
Did we ever go there in the first place?
Going back to the moon and Mars...?
We went to Mars too?
Where have I been!?
-----
What if the moon missions were performed on a government sanctioned sound station? Perhaps in Area 51, or perhaps they just rented at Universal Studios... I mean, we couldn't possibly be left in the dust by the USSR! The Cold War was still being waged! It would have been what we call a "psychological victory" for the USSR.
Just a thought.

To get any kind of backing from todays gaming market, many companies are reverting to tried and tsted methods to create video games. That's why many of us are seeing an influx of FPS and other cliche game genres. Story telling games also reqire a lot more positions to be filled in a development team. Storytellers, etc. are extra positions to be filled. Also, the man hours spent alpha and beta testing can seriously hurt the deployment of a story based game. It seems most are happy with their FPS's, but I, for one, would like a very involved game soon. That, or enough money to buy 10 or so FPS's, because they become boring fast, IMHO. I remember the days I played the FF series... 80 hours a game...

In all seriousness: Make the address and interface simple. For instance Google is very easy to type. It has become as easy to type as my name. You can keep your fingers on two keyboard buttons for 4/6th of the way through the name and move the two fingers to 'l' and 'e'. It doesn't take long to load up, either, which is the second best thing one can do. Vivisimo is a crazy address, and will never become popular. You first heard it from me.
Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,
Imagine all the people
living for today...
Imagine there's no countries,
It isnt hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people
living life in peace...
Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say Im a dreamer,
but Im not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

If I remember correctly, a few months ago I read about a space weapon developed by the U.S. govt. called MILES in the LA Times. Supposedly, it launches a capsule from space, explodes above it's target spraying trillions of small, super flammable droplets within a hundred-something mile radius, and a second little ignitor sparks a chain reaction that creates a devastating explosion more powerful than a modern thermonuclear bomb!
<Recovers breath.>
When I read that to a friend who happens to be in an Air Force ROTC, he said that that would go against international space laws... Maybe he got that idea from a Sci-Fi book, but it makes sense...
No offense, but $10 says that every person in your dads building thinks that _they_ are one of the best sales reps...
Not when the real best rep gets $50,000 to spend at a local motorbike dealer.
I hate to break it to ya, but $60k a year is pretty damn good money for someone who sits on a phone all day selling Dells to people who were going to buy Dells anyway....
Licenses, not computers. Also, it is hard when the bills you thought you were always going to be able to pay end up becoming a burden to keep up with.
Maybe under this new leadership Dell will stop it's massive pay cuts to ensure it will have enough money for it's "10K A Day Giveaway."
I would know. My dad is one of the best Dell's licensing sales rep in his building and went from making bank (compared to what he used to make at Circuit City) to making near $60,000. Not only was it shocking at the time, it was appalling when two days later Dell announced it's "10K A Day Giveaway," not to mention the massive payroll cuts a few weeks after that.
One of the many signs us American's are beginning to see. Soon, America will become just like ancient Rome, once the dominant nation, only rubble after being razed by some new powers that came out of nowhere. You know, there is no USSR, but the country's didn't lose power. All they need is another person to unite them once more... Despite being off-topic, I find it interesting how many similarities there are between America and ancient Rome. The Super Bowl incident is only yet another sign: We are being entertained by gratuitous sex and disturbing violence, much like ancient Rome. Spending huge amounts of money on non-existent projects is quite...shocking, for lack of a better word. Either we need a few more communistic idealists or an extremely aggressive progressive income tax. Why take money away from the disabled when CEO's are making billions to spend on their $500,000 sports cars and 1001 Hawaiian vacations with their greedy, money-grubbing wife and kids. </rant>
If solid state memory as fast as you described ever came out, then there wouldn't be a distinction between memory and storage. In a perfect world they would be one in the same, check out brix-os.sf.net for more info.
If we were to make computer crashes a thing of the past, what would we have to do, both in our software and in our operating systems, to make this come to pass?

Didn't Microsoft want to do the same thing? Only Linux advocates started to become angry... -Xeon

The Hellow World program was not a benchmark. RTFA.
USE SCHEME! :)
If we were to make computer crashes a thing of the past, what would we have to do, both in our software and in our operating systems, to make this come to pass?
;-)
You would have to use Scheme.
P.S. I'm serious.
What!? # is so cool looking though.
...we should all use Scheme.
