And more power to them. I raised mice when I was 11-15 and this was a long time before a veterinarian did anything other than perform euthanasia on animals and they were _mice_. I'm not sure what the growth/cancers were or the specific cause, I did know it was a common problem with severely inbred rodents. The inbreeding did result in some interesting mice though, I had a strain of gold furred, red eyed for a while.

Going with the multi-layered defense, I routinely go to two anti virus sites, one RAT/Trojan site, and a hoax site [www.vmyths.com]. We also block any executable at the gateway, that cuts the majority of your problem there [none of our users need those kinds of files].

That led me to buy the Weber, as well as Ringo's, books [haven't made it all the way through the CD] to stock my library. I now have a nice collection on my laptop and hardcopies. Baen's policy has made me a loyal consumer of their company. After pulling my hair in frustration [heh] at certain authors I usually buy from them, as I know I'm getting a good read.
I think their revenue models are screwy anyway. Take into consideration the people that reserve [deposit] or preorder the games [full price], doesn't that count? Would they also benefit from introducing the title a little cheaper? I wait for a PC or console [PS2] game to drop from $50-$60 USD range down in the ballpark of $20. Many of my friends just rent their console game, about $5, finish it and never wind up buying the title.

I took a Red Cross CPR course about 10 years ago and at that time [in the U.S.] you were covered by a good Samaritan clause, that if any thing happened while you were doing your best to save a life you "should not" [some moron may still try and sue] be liable in the event of further injury or death. Does this not apply anymore? I would imagine many people that ordinarily help out [past the emergency call] might think twice about it.

Also [personal experience and no I was not in S4, logistics and supply] if a unit/department did not spend its entire allocated budget by the end of the fiscal year said budget was reduced. There were massive buying sprees of barracks supplies, spare parts, office furniture, etc. While not wasteful, unless it had a short shelf life, we wound up buying all kinds of crap that sat around for months before it was used. I'm not disagreeing with you; I'm just adding another expense theory.

One of the first thoughts I had when I read the [/.] article was back to when I played pen and paper D&D [early 80's]and how the Christian faith denounced it as Satan worship and occult. I had my own relatives confiscating and burning [yes burning] my manuals. Man that cheezed me off 'cuase now I had to go out and buy new stuff until they found the next stash. In the first chapter sample his experience was completely different, parental support [yeah it was still nerdy to play but he didn't have to hide the stuff]. That got me thinking we now have objections to the violence and gore, but I've never really seen/heard anything about PC or console games being EVIL. Did they move on to better things or are they still decrying D&D type [paper or electronic]? Last thing I know they were harping about was Disney putting obscene material in posters and movies. Anybody know or was that just a fanatical fad?
Also you may want to try the better business bureau and see what resolution they might be able to provide. Check in your area for mediators, as they may be able to help settle the payment of what you are owed [any legit company would really like to settle/pony up rather than face bad PR]. If you know a Guido or Vinny that may help as well.;)
Sorry... My point was _she didn't even know about the U.S.S. Arizona, let alone other ships and reasons for the Japanese and U.S. getting embroiled in the war. The U.S.S Arizona is just the most remembered of the ships lost due to the monument. I also forgot to mention she graduated HS in 1999.

Itâ(TM)s not the author who makes any money it is the publishers and the schools that see the majority of the profit. Also some of the âoeapprovedâ books chosen by the state areâ¦lacking in most information. I graduated from a California high school in â(TM)89, when I had a conversation with my wifeâ(TM)s sister about world war II history and I had to give a background on Pearl Harbor, as she had only a paragraph on it when she was taking US history. What really chapped my hide was she never heard of the USS Arizona. IMHO this is tragic. Any History profs/teachers that can add more info one way or the other please reply.
