So they basically know that most of their internet users download pr0n and mp3s. Is this news? An invasion of privacy? Maybe, but you could write this in a text file:

    User (212.23.32.19) downloaded pamela_boobs.jpg at 3:30PM.

And chances are, you would be close to the truth, just out of sheer random pr0n coincidence.

In all seriousness though, good job to all the people who don't let evil AOL get ahead in this world!

Thanks for informing me. All I remember was that AOL was the only one that made it to my side of the world (NW Indiana) with any decent form of advertising.

  4. Well on Glory Days at AOL · · Score: 5, Interesting

Actually, they did do something good for the Internet world. Remember that they made it the standard to charge people for access to the internet instead of charging per minute. Several smaller ISP's had the idea first, but AOL took it mainstream and did it nationwide.

This of course was humanities first encounter with busy signals and paying for service you can't actually connect to, but hey, at least they had decent intentions... :D

What factors do you think hearing may play in action games like CS that require you to listen to footsteps to anticipate your opponents. If this data is true, then shouldn't my hearing be inproved as well...? I find that I can now hear footsteps in the game and tell how many people are running, how close they are to me, and other important game data.

    Games rock afterall...

I understand this point totally, and I stick with my point in which it is a retarded lawsuit. It is the ladies fault. McDonalds should not be held accountable for selling hot coffee. It didn't melt through the cup, so therefor it spilling is totally this idiot ladies fault.

And the fact that it is served hot? That is a good thing in my opinion. I buy large coffee's, and I want them to remain at least warm throughout my morning commute. I don't want a coffee as cold as ice after 20 minutes. The lady should have ordered a Frappacino if she wanted a cool drink.

The computers you own are not actually yours. They are owned by the United States govt. Everyone go download their new distributed CPU project called "Count The Votes". Oh, wait, they installed it for me. Thank you govt. :D On a serious note though. Its getting to be that regular Americans can't do anything without fear of getting sued or suing someone else. McDonalds coffee anyone?

And my final question, are there any decent talk shows worth listening to anymore? Most morning talkshows like Mancow and stuff are decent, but they are like, 6 hours long, and the 30 minutes I get in the car each morning usually satisfies my needs.

    Yeah, cost.

    Imagine this:

You buy 20 10$ 333mhz computers off Ebay or some cheap wholesale outlet.

Retrofit them with BSD/Linux/Whatever, put this on it as the primary interaction with the machine, and install all these computers in a programming class or something.

Now you have a very effective, efficient, and very affordable computer lab for a school. For 200$, you have just created a whole computer lab. Dell tries to sell schools cheap computers for 1500$.

Everyone always complains and bitches about what OS is better, whos has the l33ter OS, who is running the most current kernel, and then proceed to get in bitter flame wars over which OS is better.

This guy has created a product to satisfy one thing for him, which is his curiousity. Isn't that good enough these days? A project based on curiousity should be respected on general the general premise that something creative is being done in the name of innovation.

Maybe if we stopped wasting time arguing and insulting each other about what OS we run, and spend all that time doing something productive like this man has done, we will actually accomplish every goal we set.

    Just a thought.
