Hence the second part of my post:

If you don't like that, download a copy of zonealarm, stick it on removable media and install it before putting the machine online.

Patching before you go online means that you must have the patches laying around somewhere. Not to mention it leaves you vulnerable to any patches recently released that you do not have. Since most people download them from Windows Update they do not keep copies of the patches laying around.

You don't think it makes more sense to enable to XP firewall, patch, and then use whatever firewall you want?

It doesn't matter how much the built in firewall sucks, it will keep you from getting rooted while you install the patches.

Even better, would be to download the firewall you want ahead of time and use that (but that takes more forethought). Zonealarm in my post can be replaced with whatever windows firewall you/they prefer.

In addition, the ads that come up have the word AXA in the links. Seems clear to me, that this is rather missleading and that some people may think the ads represent AXA.

A lot of people seem to be drawing incorrect conclusions. That is, that this is just like the yellow pages where when a person looks up McDonalds and sees an ad for Burger King right next to it.

In actuality it's more like looking up McDonalds in the white pages and seeing an ad next to it that also has McDonalds at the top, but has the phone number for Burger King.

The first example is ok, the second is not.

The person outlined in the parent post clearly was not. However the reason they were not had nothing to do with their sexual orientation, propensity to wear women's clothing, or weight and had everything to do with threatening to rape employees, searching them, and making poor decisions.

A competent manager balances getting the job done well while making effficient use of resources and ensuring the well being of the people they manage.

That's what I'd pay them for. If they can do that while wearing a dress, being gay, and being fat I'd have no problem with it. Same thing goes for someone who is unsure about their sexuality. Good managers are exceedingly difficult to find. I'd consider myself lucky to have found one.
