Actually, it was Phil Mickelson.
And most of the writing I have seen since on the subject basically said if you don't have his swing or his endorsment contract - Don't bother doindg the same as him.
"They are talking about phasing in low-sulfur diesel, but it's going to take quite awhile."
Actually, the new lower sulphur diesel regulations go into effect in the US this year. This would allow automakers to use the pollution control systems from their European cars on cars sent to the US. Brings the NOx and soot emissions down closer to gasoline engine levels.
I think people are missing the point on the whole "agree to sell out" agreements Microsoft is supposedly having people sign. The idea isn't to create stories of sellouts but to make sure stores aren't ordering more than they can realistically sell, causing a glut in one area and a shortage in another.
Which news story do you think is better for the long term prospects of the 360?
1) XBox sold out! You can't one anywhere!
or
2) Microsoft sells 10 jillion consoles on first day. More coming tomorrow!
If it were my business I'd want to see the second and I'd want the number of consoles I sold in the first day to be as high as it could be.
I'm guessing that in a game where you can evidently control individual pieces of flaming wreckage that 'real world physics' was one of thir priorities.
The point people seem to be missing is that nobody wants a 'computer' hooked to their TV or home theater setup or a 'computer' that acts as the above.
What they want is something that can integrate the two. They want to record TV shows and archive the good stuff to the network. They want to listen to the MP3's they ripped on a real stereo, not the crummy speakers of their computer. They want to show off their digital photo albums to people on a nice 36 inch screen in their family room not on a (comparatively) small computer monitor in their home office/ bedroom.
Homebrew systems running MythTV seem to handle these things nicely but are much too complicated for the average user.
A headless iMac with TiVO software and schedule service.... that might fit the bill for the less technical sort who want their home entertainment gear to 'just work'.
A guy I work with just got a new digital video camera and wanted to get a new PC do do some editing on. His existing PC and laptop did not have Firewire or the horsepower to get what he wanted done.
I told him an iMac would be great to do video editing and came with some of the best software to do basic video editing.
Unfortunately he didn't want to spend $1000- $1200 on an iMac and instead bought a Compaq for around $600 which would do what he wanted.
This low end Mac would have been perfect for him. Plus, he wouldn't have had to shell out the money for decent video editing software either.

"I'll be sad to see SGI go because they've never seemed as tied to consumer demands "
Perhaps that's why they are getting delisted.

Whatever they want to spend it on is fine since it was theirs to begin with.
I'm not sure that this example is a great one to cite as the linked article was produced by the Associated Press and not Fox news themselves.
