A few issues: If the stations are a mile apart, then that means that the maximum distance to a station is 1/2 mile, not 2 miles. The average distance would be even lower than that. While i'm a little skeptical of their ability to do this in any major city, that would be sufficient to replace taxis for all but the most urgent applications.
I agree that buses are more economical to install, but look at their quoted operating costs. After a while they'll pay for themselves relative to buses.

The only way to do that is to produce exact copies of the original CD or DVD, but such copies are a rarity on the P2P networks.

I disagree. Exact DVD copies are all over Emule and Bittorrent. Check out Suprnova. Right now there are two dvd iso torrents on the front page, and countless more on the movies page. It's becoming feasable to send uncompressed DVDs around the internet. Granted this cannot be done with movies that are newly out, but it's pretty scary fron the movie industry's viewpoint that even a casual pirate can reproduce exactly what they're selling - for free.

You should review the meaning of the terms "digital" and "random access". CDs are both.

WRONG. Random Access entails being able to access any location on the media In the same amount of time. Since CDs have a moving head containing the laser, and moving to the end of the cd takes more time than staying in one place, CDs are not at all random-access.

There is a difference between pointing out misspellings, and complaining that your regional spellings are not used on an american website.
