GPS time is currently off UTC by (iirc) about 15 seconds. Granted, it's a fixed offset that could be easily fixed (simply do a -15 seconds) but that's not part of GPS yet. Until GPS time can't be a replacement for any other UTC time signal.
I have no idea how the exact laws are in the US, but in the EU manufacturers warranty is something absolutely voluntary.
The seller took your money, he is responsible for giving you a defect free device. So even if your smartphone explodes, it's up to the seller to repair, replace or refund (he gets the first pick) Private sales (garage sales) are exempt from that, so if you got it from "some dude on ebay" you may be right contacting the manufacturer, but his warranty is completely voluntarily (if he wants to extend the sellers warranty) and subject to his terms. So you can't "expect" anything at all from him.
Sellers of used goods are explicitly not automatically exempt from their warranty, but have options to limit it by contract/TOS.
Caesars would look into whether the man was actually an employee.
This alone is sad.
Even sadder is the fact that they are doing these "checks" at all
And the saddest thing is probably that after the Las Vegas shooter, this could be even justified. More or less. Not in a "this will help" way, but in "how can we prevent this in the future" way. I bet someone was forced to present an "action plan" to his managers.
Sounds like location based search and location history are implemented as two separate services. But that isn't something the user should need to worry about.
Don't train it with WhizKids job applications to try to pick those, feed it with your existing staff. Might find good matches for your existing team. (ok.. if your existing team already sucks at its job, you should NOT try this at home...)
Technically, what happened actually does fit the definition of a DDoS attack. Oliver found a deep link that wasn't supposed to get much traffic, exposed it and encouraged people to send lots of traffic there..
Not if the traffic is intended to actually use the service offered at link. DDos attacks try to block servers by keeping connections open as long as possible WITHOUT transmitting data.
Didn't Oliver merely encouraged people to use their free speech by using a feedback form that was especially intended for this kind of feedback?
I would not want to give businesses or agencies a blueprint for handling critics by setting up a web form on a server too weak to handle it and then sue for hacking when some user feedback brought it down....
As long as it take more space and more weight than an IC performing an equivalent task
But it doesn't use power and should have a high radiation/EMP robustness. And is literally as fast as lightning. Any of these factory may mitigate space or weight
I already wrote in a different post that it's really cool because it mixes hi-tech with absolute low-tech.
That sounds like one of the coolest magic tricks ever performed.
Set up a lamp shining on a screen and have someone paint a number on a glass plate. Put it in front of the lamp to project it on the screen. Add a stack of plates and instead of the number you will see a bright spot in a field on screen representing the number. And that without any hidden active equipment making a "decision" of any kind. Just a combination of refracting patterns.
Europe here so I don't get the situation in the US. But I have always been explained that a part of those tuition fees are due to the fact that they include room anbd board? So food is still an issue?
They always come down again.

Or probably non CompSec-scene members accept or even support these "security measures" after the shooting.

I doubt that.
When I buy something online and the seller tries to slip me an obviously "refurbished" thing, I'll complain with the seller and not the manufacturer.
It is a common American trait to use the "last resort" pretty fast.
Opioids, Antibiotics...
Why should someone, who receives a mint condition, shrink wrapped and sealed item complain about not getting a "new" one?
Maybe it can even better....

Didn't Northpoint promise that for the parole/correction software?

I love my tuneable white bulbs. have set up a script to match daylight during day and the old fashioned tungsten in the evenings.
As in:
Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.

so just don't throw a fit if other sovereign countries do the same.
Ok, so basically you think it's ok to make laws that allow you to do things that you don't allow for others.
So what if there is a law that prohibits government source probes from being disclosed?

as regular "Machine Learning" does during normal operations if you don't do training cycles.

Wow. That makes it even more expensive than what I always thought with already those huge fees.
I could understand this is if we were in a 3rd world country. However, we are not.
At this point you may have to state where you are from. So far I thought this was bout the situation in the US?

and now, we're way further into the future than a mere 20 minutes....
Insightfull,
