The thing is those 6% overwhelmingly go to Germany and other Central-Eastern Europe nations. France has nuclear and the UK had North Sea natural gas. Italy and Spain use North African natural gas. Scandinavia uses coal and natural gas from Norway.

Still Putin chose a bad time to do this since the harshest part of the Winter has already come and gone. If they want to stop using Russian gas now is the best time in the year to start working on it.

Regardless it looks like crap. Altavista went into a downward spiral for precisely this reason. It used to be great but it stopped being great when you had to sift thought one and sometimes two pages of ads before actually getting to the result you actually wanted.

If Google doesn't deliver the results people are searching for easily we will just switch search engine again.

The 'spontaneous' rebellion also enjoyed NATO bombardment of Gaddafi's motorcade when he was attempting to flee to Egypt.

It was a propped up coup. Worse of all they used Al-Qaeda and the bozos who usually destabilize South Algeria in the coup and gave them weapons. That is going to bite Europe in the ass eventually. Especially because South Algeria is the *other* source of natural gas into Europe other than Russia via pipeline. Other than that the only option is ship from Niger by boat or some other less cost effective means like that.

I keep hearing about that. AFAIK it was a Soviet Union planning disaster which was not targeted specifically at the Ukraine. Parts of Russia had the same sort of food shortages. The Soviet Union funded its rapid industrialization drive in the 1930s by confiscating farm output and sending it to the cities.
