    The algae farms have several issues. The difference between now and the 1980s is that the current efforts involved genetic engineering of the algae proper. See work done at UC Berkeley for example.

    Still, yes, they have issues being grown in large quantities.

    You know how you can reduce corruption? You have to punish both the corrupter and the corrupted.

    You have to make all transactions more transparent. For example in New York's case, Amazon wanted to do a closed doors negotiation, while the local government wanted to make it public. So who was the leading agent for corruptive practices here even in a city like New York?

    Amazon supposedly said they would not be searching for another location after the announcement.

    Which makes me think it was a bait & switch deal on Bezo's part to begin with. Probably to squeeze more money out from Washington State as usual.

    There are three reactors of the same design still in operation in St. Petersburg. You know where that is right?
    The EU paid money to Ukraine to shut down the reactors in Chernobyl which were still operational. Otherwise they might even still be in use. And Ukrainians would have less dependency on Russian gas. Even though those reactors should have been retired like a decade ago at least.
