More like progress has gone sideways. The focus has changed from high speed vehicles to high fuel efficiency vehicles ever since the 1970s oil crisis. It's the same reason you do not see cars powered by Wankel engines or turbines. It's not that we do not have the technology it just does not make economic sense.
Today we have satellite reconnaissance and regardless of how fast you make a jet aircraft a SAM rocket will prove to be faster. You might as well send a high-altitude relatively slow drone like the Global Hawk to make the reconnaissance.
Things might change though. There has been more emphasis on scramjet research in the last decade and the proposals for the next fighter aircraft after the F-22 have sometimes included variable cycle engines.
It still makes zero sense for space launch. Instead of one rocket engine you need like three engines. A jet engine to get it to Mach 3, then a ramjet/scramjet to get to Mach 5 or Mach 8 (depends on the engine), and in addition to that a rocket engine. You could use two engines, in theory, by combining the jet engine with the ramjet/scramjet but then the engine needs to have variable geometry like a Transformer. Because you spend more time in the atmosphere the exterior skin of the whole vehicle needs active cooling. Oh and you still need the rocket engine.
It's a neat idea for an intercontinental bomber but its bunk for space launch.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the Marines were still using the M60 because, well, usually the Marines get to use whatever's leftover from the other branches.
A lot of people still claim the turbine engine was a bad idea. It probably made sense when it was designed because oil was cheaper and you could pool engine research with helicopters. Now it looks like a really bad idea. The Russians also haven't used turbines in tanks ever since the T-80. All their later tanks are diesels.
I remember Lycos. It looked like a search engine but nearly always it returned something other than what you wanted.
Altavista and HotBot worked decently though. The main problem with Altavista was when people started doing heavy SEO and it broke the search results. Not to mention the paid results page you had to click through in order to get to the results you actually wanted. When Altavista started it had none of those issues.
The difference vs TNG was that they didn't keep repeating the same CGI over and over every single damned episode. So how many epic space battles did TNG have with more than 2 ships? We are talking about dozens of ships here.
Treating like an idiot? I haven't seen that happen. Of course if you want to flash custom ROMs and things like that you would be better off buying a Google Nexus phone. But I could care less about that. I bought some cheap phone for like half the cost of a 6S and it had better hardware specs except for storage which I solved by buying a memory card (the phone has an expansion slot) for peanuts.
Yeah games over a decade or two run great because they are probably DOS games running inside a DOSBox emulator. Which also runs on Linux or MacOS X just fine.
Seems to me like he keeps pushing the dates for his predictions ever forward in time as they fail to materialize. e.g. his prediction that "Cybernetic chauffeurs" can drive cars for humans and can be retrofitted into existing cars. They work by communicating with other vehicles and with sensors embedded along the roads. by the early 2000s decade is one example. Not to mention that this is not exactly a new idea... people have been talking about this for decades before his 1990s book. It doesn't take a genius that it will eventually come to pass.
It's been like a decade since the first iPhone was released. Even a "cheap smartphone" has much better h/w specs than an iPhone 4S. You can get an Android phone with similar hardware specs to a top end iPhone for nearly half the price. Unless you are one of those persons who cares more about the box than what's inside you don't buy Apple... The S7 has way superior hardware specs where it counts.
Much like the PC market had Compaq, HP, Dell, and Intergraph workstations at one point, of course the S7 is more expensive. But that's the thing. There's a model for every price point and it has better hardware for $ spent.

They are just throwing money at something which may eventually be used in a cruise missile or intercontinental bomber down the line.
Have you ever looked at Goddard's rocket? He was a pioneer but the configuration used in modern rockets looks nothing like that.
Yeah the first CG is from the Reaction Engines Skylon and the second CG is a Blue Origin VTVL rocket.
AFAIK DotCom didn't have any money or assets in the US.
You have to look at them? Its the easiest keys to memorize. They are in banks of 4 keys and there's 12 of them.
Of course they don't. No modern screen can display its awesome 64Kx64K graphics with one color (black).

A phased array low frequency Chinese radar.
Perhaps they have failed recently. But I guess you never read about Operation Linebacker II.
The US Marines used the M1A1 in the first Gulf War even if it was in a limited way:

The software isn't finished.

I guess you never heard of iPhone pre-orders.
Nah only black people die young in the US. The health system is perrrrfect...

Unfortunately yes. I wish I stayed with Windows 7.
You have been Scroogled by the Scrooge himself!

Although I only buy games from GOG.com. I'm no fan of the Steam bloatware.
There's Steam and TF2 for Linux now.
8.1 and good don't belong in the sentence. 8.1 is the Windows ME of the Vista derived line.
