Utah is really not that different from the rest of the US. I can say this having lived in Utah for 18 years, and outside of it in various places for 4. Sure, you are pretty limited as to what you can buy in stores where it comes to pr0n, and even looking at smut on the net is technically illegal. But, does a SWAT team bust down your door when you click on that "I am over 18 and pr0n is legal in my state" link..? Hmmm...
I would have to say that there is one problem with the distribution system. The way Steam works is more along the lines of the way MMORPGs update their games. You connect to master servers everytime you logon, it checks for updates, and then downloads anything you need. This way it is much easier for Valve to control what content gets sent out to users. While a BitTorrent type system is great for bandwidth, its really only useful for distributing single files and Valve is really trying to get away from the 100mb single file patch by using Steam. Sure, you could probably work out something where individual update files are distributed P2P according to a master update file list on Valve's servers. But, there is a lot of overhead to worry about there.
All in all, I think your ideas are a little too progressive for a corporation like Valve, but maybe someday... =)
People are just plain lazy. How hard is it to memorize an eight character alphanumeric password? As opposed to inkblots, its fast, you don't have to look at twenty different pictures as you enter your password (think about how many times a day YOU enter your password). You could use the same password for multiple accounts and simply change it often. Like my current master password for example: uck29aic
Uh oh. Where is the damn stop button? CANCEL CANCEL CANCEL!!!
The Army is constantly doing things that defy logic, so if you are going to start comparing it to computers, you would have a machine that would give you 5 when you add 2 + 2.
I think we can attribute this same kind of advertising to what you would see on TV in the middle of the night. "It slices! It dices! It feeds your pets!" This is the kind of marketing that everyone has grown used to. While in the computing industry there are numerous sites which review software products, the ability to download demos or trials, and then you can avoid the whole problem by using OSS..
I do not see how it would be helpful anyway. The technology for advanced enough AI to process, comprehend, and then actually DO something with the given data just does not exist. The whole thing sounds like a waste of processing power and data storage that would be better suited for recording the milage on your mouse..
Those are easy to spot. They all say: "Best viewed with Internet Explorer 6."

You are right, it was T&A that made "Baywatch" the most watched show on the planet.
Sounds like a great plan in theory, IMHO.

I think the key word here is DARPA
If they told you, they would have to kill you.

Excuse me, sir. I am your friendly neighborhood black suited government agent. Can I have a word with you in my black unmarked van?
My employer (U.S. Gov't) is too cheap to buy Cisco equipment! =P
I wish someone would rid us of his idiocy, but somehow he keeps ending up back in office.
