  1. Re:one would think? on Consumers Look For More Utilitarian Cellphones · · Score: 1

well that just depends on where exactly you live in Europe. In Belgium the operators aren't allowed to give away free phones with paying service attached. You can get reasonable disctounts on certain models if you purchase an intro pack from a service provider, but even then the phone can't be locked to be used with only one service provider (which is the case in the UK, I believe). But hey, this is Belgium, where you're obliged to have ID on your person all the time, but as good consumers, our governement does protect us (to a degree) against market abuse

I may be missing your point, but can you explain why you cannot choose yourself to carry one, if it's such a good idea? Does the Government need to make it compulsory for you, because you can't make that decision?
As if in other countries, governements don't impose decisions on their citizens ? I may be missing your point but if a country has ID cards for it's citizens, I don't see what's so wrong about having everyone carry them around.
put it another way, do you think your actions are in any way less traceable because you don't carry an ID around with you ?

living in Belgium were having your ID card on you all the time is mandatory, let me say this. It's better than having no ID at all. There are many situation where having an official ID card to prove who you are is very pratical, like when I go to the bank to open an account, when I buy a house, when the police stop me I produce my ID and don't have to go down to the station to prove who I am... Having a mandatory ID card is not an invasion of my privacy, there are more chances of spooks tracking my phone, my bank card/ credit card, hell even email account.

I suggest you try a decent 5.1 headset : http://www.firebox.com/?dir=firebox&action=product &pid=691. Provided you upmix to 5.1 (with creative audio player for example) you'll not want to go back to stereo phones (in your living room anyway, I agree this setup won't exactly work on an ipod in the bus. But in that case your not going to get a quality listening anyway.

you hit the spot. Most gaming websites don't understand that it's the depth of the articles, not the number of them, that gets the reader hooked. I've noticed a pleasing trend in french gaming magazines who have realised that since they can't beat the gaming websites in bringing the latest information, they can at least beat them at creating interresting content ( actual journalism, not just reposting the latest newz post from ea's website)
