    Hyper-Threading is a load of crap. It fooled the computer into believing that the computer has an additional processor. The reason that they removed Hyper-Threading from the dual core chips is that it is redundant and not needed. You are not going to get any greater performance gains from multithreading on a single chip than you are from a dual core chip.

    Oh really? A real-life simulation says your wrong. In this video from Toms Hardware, it shows a 3Ghz HT system beating one running at 3.6Ghz with HT disabled. Go ahead and view the video for yourself. I fail to see how Hyper-Threading is a "load of crap".

    But what about hordes of people who constitute 'the people' in the declaration of independence ?


    Oh, that's easy! Once the "government elite" have left for the bunkers, the hords of people above ground will weld the doors shut. The world forever will be a better place to live =)

    The RIAA and MPAA orginizations are enforced by the government. Clearly, we don't live in a country where capitalism should be less restricted. As such, the ideas of "the market will solve" will never be given a chance.

    Oh, but it is! Money = power = control.

    If you have enough money, you don't need a lawyer to begin with. You simply "buy off" the judge and jury either directly or indirectly.

    You will never find a large social gathering where corruption doesn't take place. Behaviors of lying, deceit, and greed are evolutionary advantages. To this day, such behaviors are written into the human race DNA.

    When a customer would bring a computer in to be recycled I would open the cover with them standing there. I'd remove the hard drive and take a drill and put multiple 1/4 inch holes through the hard drive.

    I'm sorry, but I find this hard to believe!

    You use a drill with a drill bit designed to go through metal and it's platters. Were you using safety glassess/goggles? How far was the customer in relation do you doing this work? Did you mount the drive in a vice? What did you place the drive on in case the drill bit goes through the cast aluminum?

    Depending on your age and the job classification (based on employment contract), this activity screams of an OSHA violation.

    XP takeup might not have been what they hoped but they still are earning billions so who cares

    I do tech support for Time Warner on all their products/services. When it comes time to help a customer get online access, it's running XP 99% of the time. Only in rare instances will someone still be running WinME. If it's running 98, it's only because they bought the PC used from a pawn shop or second hand.

    Face it, Microsoft scored big time with XP. In fact, I would say it is the most sucessfull OS to date in MS history!!!

    America needs to have FEWER, not MORE, lawsuits.

    I totally agree, which is why I asked the question in the first place. Call my a cynic, but all the politicos in office just keep writing more and more laws/bills just to justify their own existence and/or legacy.

    Our government is becoming bloated with virtually an unmanageable codebase in that laws are to civilization as source code is to a program.

    Unless I'm mistaken, I thought we already had laws to prevent slander in the first place. The problem isn't that we don't laws already in place for issues such as this; the problem is that they aren't enforced.

    Gee, sounds like the whole immigration issue in regards to enforcing existing laws. I'm starting to see a trend here...

    I remember taking off the side panel to replace a CDROM drive in a Packard Bell. Guess what? PB was too fucking cheap to use real screws. Instead, they mounted the factory drive with rivets. Yes. POP RIVETS!!!! The only way to get them out is with a small drill bit or dremel tool. Obviously I didn't have one available to use, so I just mounted it in the other drive slot and move the cables around.

    How annoying.

    Getting the reprocessed uranium is much easier now to get on the black market from places such as Russia (fall of the USSR), N. Korea, and Iran. Problem is, what happens if someone actually ships in parts to make a bomb in your country. Scary stuff.

    This is exactly why we need our shipping containers (every one of them) scanned through some massive system to detect radioactivity!
