You see, that's where you went wrong. You got modded as a troll because your advocating using toilet paper, period!. The correct thing you should have said was...
Corporations will stop polution when you stop buying their shit. And this advice goes for everyone on slashdot. Untill then, your just advocating the government to step in and push a free ecconomy to the ground. Let me be the first to say...bad idea.
Reduce, reuse, and recycle is the key to solving our polution issue. Educate please. Don't prohibit a free ecconomy! And finally, stop your finger-pointing at the "right wing" as though only they are responsible for our mess.
I agree. Personally, I find the majority of global warming to be another cycle of our planet by natural means. However, politics and science should NEVER mix. Leave the science and their publications to peer review.

Simple. The "War on Drugs" made pot the poster child in front of the public. In order to not back down and lose governmental credit to its citizens, it must always make pot "evil" as to save face.
In other words, regardless of medical evidence now days, the "war on drugs" mantra is past the point of no return in regards to its immage. As such, the lie must continue for the "greater good" of the war.
Uh huh, right. Because, I should have just stopped my car and let those two thugs jump out of their truck and riddle me full of holes. I mean, the fucking police that finally caught them traced them back to killing three other people and running over a jogger.
Actually, I'm 28. Regardless, I've had to call 911 twice. In both instances, they were totally flowchart scripted. 911 is useless for the totally medical inept and/or retarded, but most of the shit that spews over the phone can be garnered through common sense.
First time I called 911, it was because I had someone driving behind me shooting off a rifle. I managed to loose the two in a truck after loosing them in a high speed race. The moment I found safety, I pulled over and dialed 911. It took 20+ minutes before I got in contact with a constable patched through his CB. Fuck that, I should have packed an RPG and blew the motherfucker off the road. I'm lucky to be alive after that incident.
Second time: It was because my room mate drank too much and went into sugar shock. Calling 911 was much better then last time, but I was just told to keep him awake and give him water when he needed it. Sure thing lady, I will do it as soon as he stops going into convulsions his skin stops turning blue. He's alive to this day, but not much was done when an ambulance arrived. Obviously, he is in much better hands with an EMT then with me. But, the staff that I talked with on 911 was useless as far as I'm concerned. Rather then talking with a human flowchart / psychiatrist wannabe, just dispatch someone ASAP...THEN ask questions later.
There are always trade-offs with new technology. If you must use VoIP as your only phone service, then may I recommend you learn CPR and stock up on a medical kit. Besides, 911 is useless for the person that need immediate medical attention (such as choking or having a heart attack).
Preach on! I'm totally with you on this. Let me add to the thread...
Back a few years ago, I was driving on the feeder road of I45 north (in Houston TX). While driving, I didn't have anyone in front or behind me for several hundred yards. Being that I have a V1 radar detector and I can visually spot an HPD officer camping in a parking lot, I watched my speed. In fact, because I was in a high profile ricer (91 Honda CRX with suspension slammed to the ground), I made sure I was driving below the 45MPH speed limit.
At this point, I saw him walk out in the middle of the road and pointed me to pull into the parking lot. I asked him "Hey, what seems to be the situation?". He says "You were speeding 10 miles over". I said "may I see the radar reading please". He said after asking me for my license and insurance "just fill out this ticket and take it up with the judge".
I decided to contest the ticket in court without a lawyer. BIG MISTAKE. I informed the judge that my detector didn't go off and because I visually saw the officer, I made sure to drive under the speed limit. The judge asked the officer if he was certified to properly operate the radar detector and he said yet. At this point, the judge dropped the fucking gavel and explained my fees I must pay. I asked the judge why I didn't get a chance to explain why the officer didn't show me the radar reading after I asked. The judge simply said "Sir, did I not make myself clear when I dropped the gavel"
Fucking assholes! At this point, I'm forever convinced how corrupt our legal and political system is. The only difference between the US and China is....we don't get shot and have the bullet charged to our relatives.
No, A/C sucks because the major car manufacturers are too lame to figure out how to build good A/C without Freon. It's possible, they just won't do it.
American auto manufacturers especially. They fail to innovate, and are going down the tubes. Nobody to blame but themselves, really.
As long as it's American bashing going on, this WILL get moderated up.
Fact is, EnronHaliburtons post is a troll! And he knows jack shit about the auto industry or how A/C systems work in general. Had he done his homework, you would realize that the FACT is R134 is LESS efficient then R12. That's correct EnronHaliburton2004... you troll. Do your god damn homework. And no, I won't do it for you. Google it.
While were at it, AC systems have always blown less cool regardless of the auto manufacture. This isn't an American sucks issue. This is an R134 sucks "issue". I bet my Honda on that!
Hmm, how about we combine the two. How about..."ROBOBEER". Ya, I can see the future now. Just attach some walking legs to each can of beer. Then, sell a master ROBOBEER remote control for mucho grande!
Question: When I start seeing six beer cans walking toward me, how do I know if I'm drunk, high, or perfectly sane? Hmmmmm
The standard seems to be around 220v @ 50 or 60hz AC. I'm not sure I want that kind of load on four twisted pair of cable (CAT5). Besides, being the RJ45 connection could be standard eithernet, what's to prevent your casual user from making a BIG mistake. Jokes aside, it could cause one's battery in a laptop to explode with the force of a stick of TNT.
He who makes the money, makes the rules. No doubt that because execs have direct access to lawers (whom mainly make up the bulk of our polititions in office), the can get laws passed in their favor. Thus, any CEO or top exec will make sure they don't have to pay their top employees competitively so they can maintain top salaries for themselve.
Personally, this is the kinda bullshit we get when laws are passed on private industry. It's not anyones damn business what I can and can't do as person who embraces capitolism in it's purist form. Unless you pay me more then "the other" guy, fuck you, I'm walking. But...law states otherwise now huh? Grrrrrr!!

Government should only get funding from it's citizens for military, fire, police, and transportation.
I have no good explanation for the phenomenon of "stars" in this framework. Their tendancy to be typecast suggests that some branding is going on here, but there's no good reason to pay someone $20 million to look good in a 90 minute film when there're plenty of people capable of looking good for 90 minutes for much less money.
Perhaps your right. Maybe it's the scarcity of of actors that embrace vanity that draws a bigger crowd. But I'm just speculating. Regardless, I agree with your post.

Seriously, the idea of needing better and faster hardware has been so grinded into my head all these year, I found using this Optiplex for general office use to be a real sobering reality check. Here is my theory... The Chinese government does not want to have to worry about revolt or a revolution because they cannot feed the millions of starving Chinese. The solution: First, start a war with Taiwan to reclaim land and to pump up patriotism among the Chinese citizens. Second, when the US attacks, nuke our cities from coast to coast. As a result, we will nuke them back. Millions of Chinese will die, but this is EXACTLY what the CCP wants. They want to cut back on the over population AND not be seen as a bad government.
Mix less people in china from the aftermath, increase in government support due to patriotism, and the result is a communist government more powerful then ever before!

It's very easy to fire a private corporation. You can't however fire your governmet and the services it provides.
The more the government taxes you, the less money you have left for yourself.
