I can vouch for this. It's true. In fact, one time I worked on a smokers Dell. It was one of those cases where you had to take the front cover off in order to gain access to the two screws that mounted the vertical hard drive. Anyways, when I removed that pannel, a lent-rag (like what you find in a cloths dryer) can rolling off the metal case. It was nasty yellow cause of the tar which helped bind both dust and pet hair. I sware, I almost lost my lunch because of it.

Because of heavy chain smoking my clients take part it, I often wonder if they are even still alive. Just too creepy!

Let's be honest here. With all of the shit Bush is having do deal with, I'd say he's doing fairly well at keeping another great depression at bay from happening.

They do it to themselves.

al Queda mainly has America on it's sights because we are everything they hate from a religious perspective. So naturally, we are the first to be targeted. Also, Russia has been targets of Islamic fanatics along with Spain. Let's not forget Israel too.

The BIOS does functions that you can't have a general purpose OS do. For example, each BIOS is custom tailored to the MB it's connected to. It helps define signal timing, memory addressing, voltage monitoring...etc. Operating systems today do not completely override these functions. What they WILL do is allow for better allocation of resources to hardware directly such as what IRQ will be tied to what type of hardware.

I predect that the next "big thing" in IT will be retro. Because of the major headaches with administrating Wintel boxes, it would be much easer to have user apps run on a central clustered-mainframe system. It would alow for easier application installation and central system administration. Also, spare CPU cycles are cheap now. So unless your running something scientific (read: need lots of CPU), your average employee doesn't need their own dedicated workstation. But rather, a simple dumb terminal with a nice GUI enviroment.

My point is this: With a saturation in the PC market, companies outsourcing, and consolidating workforce personel...why would even THINK about finding the PC market to be lucrative anytime soon?

I suppose the gaming market will still be strong. It looks Alienware and Falconwest have the right idea so far. It's a limited market, but worthy enough non the less.

  15. It's obvious on Michael Dell Steps Down as CEO · · Score: 4, Insightful

And with China and Korea quickly sucking up market share, it won't be long before you can nab a highend PC for $200.

I'm not saying this is bad. It's just that Mr. Dell is smart and KNOWS the market is about to crumble. In fact, Dell doesn't make anything anymore, they just rebrand the laptops made by Samsung. Soon, Samsung will cut out the middle man and sell the laptops themselves.

Also, you can forget about fixing and repairing PCs as job security. That goldmine has ran out. Why pay someone $100 just to patch up an older PC when you can get a new one for double that amount (and comes with warranty)?
