A patch was released by an open source development site for this bug, unfortunately, it turned out that the patch contained a buffer overflow and malicious code, click here for the story.
I don't know much about how files are identified over FastRack, but I think that the way files are hashed and identified over eDonkey works just fine, and the voting system of Kazaa is weird, you are able to vote only for your own files as excellent/average/poor, so those who share fake files will tag them as excellent anyway.
In eDonkey clients, your vote for the file is based on the hash value, so when you download a file flagged as non-fake, you can be sure that it's not fake, otherwise you can simply vote for fake and so everyone else knows so.
Morpheus 4 is here and legal - "the only American file-sharing software ruled legal by a U.S. federal court," its owner StreamCast Networks boasts.
But never says why and how, further more, how is it legal and supports FastTrack network at the same time?
Anyway, FastTrack isn't the network it used to be, the quality of its files is getting worse and worse, many times you'll download something to find out that it was something else but renamed, I've switched to eDonkey long time ago, much better file quality, yes it's slower, but that is just fine with me as long as the file quality is OK.
It's much harder to share fake files in eDonkey anyway, because of the file hashing and voting system.
ever heard of wildcards? To block all images from http://somesite.com just add http://somesite.com/* to the block list. Same applies to flash movies. Even more, Adblock supports regular expressions! to quote their page:
Adblock supports two types of filters: simple, and Regular Expression. A simple-filter is just a string of text with one or more wildcards (*). Regular expressions are much more complex, allowing precise control over filtering. In Adblock, as in all javascript, regular expressions must begin and end with the forward-slash: '/'. This page doesn't have enough space to include a RegExp tutorial, so for more info, head here.
filtering files based on hashing values won't work, especially for audio and movie files, you can always modify the file a bit, add a black frame to the beginning of the movie for example, so the hash value changes, and the file passes the filter.
I wonder if it has anything to do with longhorn release date, which is supposed to be released in 2006, or maybe they've found that they won't be able to release longhorn in 2006, so decided to extend their old OS's support?
Yep, sure, I couldn't find a link over Blizzard's site, but when you lose a game, a dialog box will appear asking if you want to reduce the difficulty level, check out the faqs at gamefaqs.com, I remember that a faq there mentioned this feature.
it wasn't really adaptive, simply when you die too many times, the difficulty level is reduced, which includes the accuracy of the enemies, their damage, and your damage, many games have similar features, Warcraft III comes to mind, the only difference is that Max Payne does it automatically, no big deal.
I guess it has something to do with me playing Doom since I was 11 or something, but I still enjoy its music, I've downloaded its soundtrack, along with remixes, and listen to it frequently.
Needless to say, I go through the levels of Doom once every couple of months.
Doom, in my opinion, is one of the best video games, ever.

either I'm so lucky that I can browse the whole site (with screenshots and everything) or you are the one who's running a TRS-80 ;)
Nah, Assembly is a way too much n00bish, I recommend starting with:
copy con program.exe (Win32)
or
cat > program (*nix)
Real men do it in binary.
It is perfectly legal to use the FastTrack network without authorisation from Sharman...
hmm, why then was kazaalite shut down? (not flaming or anything just asking)
Is it because it used a similar interface to kazaa?

no one here really. ;)

Amiga OS 4.0
Hmm, shouldn't Amizilla be on the list too?

you two guys fail it, I've already done the first part (watching kazaa pr0n), I only need to do the second part, I qualify :)

Hasn't hell frozen over yet? :)
Yes it has. I'm reporting live from hell, and I can tell you that it's might cold out there! Brr!
but still no signs of a Duke Nukem Forever release.
a /. story with only one link? :)
Hasn't hell frozen over yet?
...now I can host my own slash based site using my cell phone :)
any plans of sending this alpha build to ATI for testing? I really want to play the game now :/
A master piece, please either keep the page up so I can email it to everyone I know, or provide source so I can mirror it.
thank you.
I highly doubt that Ximian and SuSE can merge, you know, monkeys do eat chameleons when hungry.

And they say old timers left /. because of trolls ;)

I hardly doubt that they even have Internet there, let alone having gaming servers...
