  1. A new way? on John Woo Establishes Game Studio With Sega · · Score: 2, Interesting

Making games already requires people from different expertises, artists, musicians, plot writers etc. In this mr. Woo will be no different.
However he's an expert in entertainment, and that's what it all really comes down to, right?

The site doesn't show much promising stuff yet. Just a few images.
I guess we'll have to wait and see.

  2. And.... on Lyric Sites In Trouble With The MPA · · Score: 1

Um, excuse me? Don't you want to sell more albums and get more royalties?

This sounds like the artists/songwriters are behind this. I think the MPA (music publishers association) are cleary not out to get the best for the artists but for the publishers.
However it seems silly that they are really ruining their own market. No wonder the music business is going down hill, they are throwing in their own windows (no pun intended).

In my opinion artists make lyrics/songs to be heard and listened to, these rules seem to be in contradiction with them. And let's be honest, how can you earn money with lyrics only?

  3. Re:I can't wait on Sam & Max in 3D · · Score: 2, Interesting

Agreed, I haven't seen much adventure games at all. And we had so many great ones in the past: day of the tentacle, monkey island and even the Sierra games were always good fun, police quest, kings quest, space quest and leisure suit larry of course!

I wonder what happened to the genre at all? Were we all just so disappointed in the latest Monkey Island that they decided not to make anymore? (I know Grim Fandango was a notable exception)

Please, give us more adventures. And if anyone knows of more upcoming adventures, I'd really like to hear about them.

  4. Re:Lifeless 3D on Sam & Max in 3D · · Score: 2, Interesting

I agree mostly. The concept art looks great, but it does for so many games.

Without looking at the pictures though, an adventure game can still be great. Look at the jokes sam & max make, the idiotic games in the game, the fun story line. It all makes a great game.

So, yes 3D could be as good as 2D. Do we need it? Don't think we do.

Will there ever be a 2D adventure game ever again?

Sure, will it be produced by a big game/software company? I don't think so.
Just as a side note, my little brother (14 years old) last asked me if I wanted to bring Baldurs Gate 2 for him. I asked him why he wouldn't play baldur's gate 1 first, he replied well it doesn't look as good. So I guess there's a point for the software companies to want 3D. We oldies aren't the only customers ;)

    I love Sid Meyer

Me too, but I am bit anxious looking at this game. I wonder if they can keep a nice balance as Sid always seems to have in his games.

Guess I'll have to try it fast! Sure it looks interesting!

  6. Re:Typical Microsoft on Microsoft's iLoo Project A Hoax · · Score: 2, Funny

Duh, it was delayed cause it had some serious security bugs.

Patches for this hoax can be downloaded at micro shit ;)

  7. Re:Like MUD on MMOGs in South Korea And The Future For Us? · · Score: 1

I can't imagine what harm it's done for the SK economy

As much harm as being done anywhere else with mail and surfing the net(like I am now) and as much as a police officer gambling somewhere on duty. My point being, it won't be any worse then other addictions.
People will get fired if they play too much, or if they drink alcohol all day on their work. It's a matter of time. However as we grow older, the importance to earn a living becomes stronger in ourselves and will overcome addictions like playing games online. Off course, there will be exceptions, as always.

Playing online games is addictive but I also know from personal experiences that the appeal lowers a tad and responsibility steps up. This happens with the most people in my view. At least with a lot more then the average smoker ;)

  8. Re:I concur on MMOGs in South Korea And The Future For Us? · · Score: 1

I still mud, I might have lost some time at school doing it, but I am still ok with it (I think). For me it's the ability to play AD&D without having to travel.

The mmog's/mmorpg's seem to be on the rise, and get way more attention the MUDs got when they were at prime (I guess at '92-'94) since they are way more popular. Again, graphics are the key to success (like with the internet).

Personally I don't see what's with the fuss about these games or games in general. Like a recently slashdot article said, kids don't sit much behind the television anymore. In my opinion watching tv is alot worse then playing games, and might just be as addictive. However tv is totally passive, no interaction whatsoever with others.

In every world there are extremes. People dying cause of a game is just plain scary.
Discipline, that's what it all comes down to, and we all forget about it sometimes, don't we?

  9. Re:Any older game on Multiplayer Shooters For Modems And Slow PCs? · · Score: 1

Half-life is one of the few notable exceptions which combined a great game/engine with good community work. The amount of mods is just big cause it's not too hard to create them. It was also the reason counterstrike could become a huge success.

I guess Half-life would be an answer to low bandwith too, since it actually does run about anything. However as with most games, bandwith does help.

Maybe I-maze is a good one too, runs on very slow bandwith as well ;)

  10. Re:Awww on Radio Shack Selling Subway Cars on eBay · · Score: 2, Funny

What? You don't know how to drive a subway train?

I do hope they are able to put it in bag though, don't want it to get rusty ;)

  11. Re:eww on Multiplayer Shooters For Modems And Slow PCs? · · Score: 1

If what is said was true then it would be much better then UT. UT has low requirements but you really need a 500MHz computer and a 16Mb videocard to play it. Which might be a bit too much for the polish users.

BTW, I think that more games should be made with good gameplay in stead of games being made with better and nicer graphics all the time. If I wanna see something nice I'll go watch X-men 2 (go Halle! ;))
