  5. I noticed this as well on Why Is US Grad School Mainly Non-US Students? · · Score: -1

...and I think I know why. All the foreign students come over here to study and that's it - they're not citizens so I imagine if they just left school, they'd be deported. US citizens, however, can leave whenever they damn well want and not get deported (well, unless their professor they were working for was on some DHS list). I honestly feel that departments in comp. sci. and engineering actively try to recruit more foreign students than American citizens because they get more mileage out of them; the professors can treat them like shit and walk all over them all they want without fear that they'll bail out.

Let's face it; a grad student has to have some talent and some ability to get into grad school in the first place, which makes them great candidates for the few tech jobs there are out there. Faculties know this, and most likely fear this - they can't treat us like shit as much as the Indian students. ...anyway, just my $0.02.

The hex string in question is no longer a valid AACS key, at which case now it's just a string of random hex values, so what's the problem? How are they going to prosecute someone for discussing a number? What happens when someone working at a university in security generates a key for a public key cryptographic system which just happens to be a revoked AACS key? Will they be sued too?

PROTIP: You can't copyright a number (or, at least, you shouldn't be able to).

  11. .NET Is Only Really Useful on Windows Anyway on Why Microsoft Will Never Make .NET Truly Portable · · Score: 4, Insightful

Other implementations of .NET are kind of stupid anyway, and, like it or not, Mono really isn't very useful. Anyone who does development on Linux/Mac/anything that isn't Windows will just use native code, or Java - probably because writing a native app isn't nearly as difficult on other platforms, and Java actually is write once, run anywhere (well, closer than .NET, anyway).

The only platform that benefits from .NET is Windows; have any of you written a native code Windows app (I'm sure many of you have)? The code is a nightmare and makes my eyes scream. With Windows, you really, truly need a system like .NET to make developing any non-trivial app even remotely possible, unless you want to spend 1,000 hours writing fucking COM shit (which I sure as fuck don't).

Parent is correct. There is no such thing as perfect security. If the media industry would start using quantum encryption for media, maybe they'd have something... but I bet there's a way to crack that too, since eventually, someone will need to know how to decrypt the data, and that is a weak point for attack.

I bet you don't understand what half of those acronyms mean. This clearly proves you are a faggot; the reliance you exhibit in this post on acronyms to get your point across is almost certainly due to your constant need to jack off a penis at all times during the day. Next time you post, I suggest letting go of the penis for a few moments, typing your correctly formatted, intelligent post (a feat unto itself for you), clicking "preview," checking for errors, clicking "submit," and then, and only then, picking back up the penis to continue jacking. By following this strategy, you'll increase your typing speed by quite a large amount and won't have to rely upon acronyms, which will increase everyone's understanding of what you're trying to say.

This can only lead to a better Slashdot. We're all counting on you!
