Actually I thought all console makers lost $$$ on the units and made it up in software sales. It was just that MS lost more $$ per console in order to price the same as the PS2.
Well, considering this annoucement came after the Novell one I am going to bet they know something about it.
Anyone think that SuSE could be the next RH? I mean which would you buy from right now if you were going to choose? Personally I use Debian on the servers here, but if you needed something with support I really think I would choose SuSE over RH.
Come on, what are the odds it drop on my office at work when I am there?
Really though, can't we push this thing out into space and see if we can get any really interesting shots without having to worry about getting to it later on? No return trip = longer one way trip.
I'm not seeing the same thing here. Actually most of the people that have gone to broadband have stayed once the "6 month special" ended. The reason is simple. Once the internet is readily available at all times and so much faster they use it more. Hell, even my grandmother went to DSL of her own choosing. I never had to talk her into it. She called me.
You have to admit though that as a lawyer you are working for someone. It is not so much a matter of honest lawyer as it is just doing what the job entails. I mean, how many coders have given in to bad design because it was what the client wanted...it's business.
The whole thing stinks though. I really think this is going to be a case of people not talking to each other within Gamespy. How much do you want to bet this is the first some of the staff there hear about this whole mess?
One of the hospitals I work with forces all staff to NS4. I agree, I only make sure the page is readable in NS4...that is all I am willing to promise these guys.
Does the system really need remote logins though? How many databases are there out there that use various other interfaces to get to it. Seriously, something like this is going to be on a db server, with a front end app server. The db server should be locked down to only allow access from whatever method the app server uses to communitcate with the db server...that is it.
I can see the app end being in some sort of DMZ, but I can't see why they do not have some sort of system image avail. for it to recover from something like this.
You've obviously never seen someone shove a monitor plug in upside down. Shapes and keys be damned... it will happen. It just takes a large enough idiot.
No, this is more like comparing the quality of service at 4 ford dealerships, or perhaps testing performance kits on a ford from four different companies. As everyone else is stating...other formats, or brands of cars, are not relevent to this at all.
To enforce the law don't you need to do a certain amount of interpretation? How else would you know what to enforce...where the line is?
I agree that final say sits with a judge, but it all gets started from the enforcement level.
[blockquote]But when I think about it, I've never seen an office use exchange/outlook for anything but email and signing up for the conference room on a single public calendar.
[/blockquote]
We use it here for assigned tasks, calendaring for 50 students and 15 staff plus two conference rooms, and web based access to it as well. We're education so we get a nice price break on Exchange and such, but I would still love to get rid of it.

I know the main thing that has kept me from going to a no MS shop has been exchange. I can't hit the site now.../. effect... but hope that this comes through as a good alternative. There has just not been any way for me to replace exchange and the groupware funtions and still make the boss happy with his web based calendaring.
The most interesting thing (to me) is that "third world" countries now have a tangible incentive to invest in quality educational systems. When the work being shifted across the globe requires technical knowledge, there must be a high quality system in place for producing skilled workers.
You have to wonder about all the students that come here to learn and then go back to work. Would you consider the US education system "used" to produce some of these workers for the other countries in the end?

I heard they were going to base the sevice off of a cluster of IBM servers running SuSE.

Come on, you haven't seen all the earthlink commercials telling you how you can ebay faster than anyone else if you have their dial up service?

You have to give them credit, they can spin anything and get it out quickly. It's like a drive-thru PR dept.

Oh yea, because it's not like I haven't had to apply any more than a couple patches to my exchange server in the last week.
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
-done-
I hear RH has a form of apt as well. Then again, most of the majors seem to have the little icons and such that alert you to a waiting update.
It doesn't matter how you see it. That is what the courts are for.
