That would be kind of stupid, for those of us who open waaaaaaay more than nine/ten tabs. As it is, Ctrl+Tab works real well in this situation, I just have to keep remembering to use it...
Colonel Mekum: Do you know how much it costs to breed you, you big moron? To train you? To feed you? What good is this man now? He's got no depth perception? All he can do is walk point and take the first hit.
Have you tried Enemy Territory? It's a free online multiplayer game, and the best part, IMO is that it's objective based (with some great stock maps to boot). A variety of different classes allow you to play to your strengths, particularly if you're not up for a fragfest.
Granted, your mileage may vary with how many noobs and assholes you're willing to deal with, but there are some good servers and some great players out there.
I've been playing it for almost two years solid and I'm still not bored. I'm also more than willing to help out newcomers to the game, so if you need/want some guidance, feel free to ask me.
However, UK Guinness is, I've found, far superior to the stuff they get in the US.
And at the end of the day, poor-quality Guinness is stell better than pretty much anything else out there. Not to mention it has traveled a little better than some of my other favorite drinks. The American-brewed version of Newcastle Brown Ale, for example, is just plain revolting.
Funny you should mention that, but I have a very negative reaction to Red Stripe. I don't know what it is, but there's something about it that that just makes my skin crawl when I take a sip.
Simply put, Budweiser tastes like hobo ass. The only lager that tastes worse, IMO is Foster's. They both have the defining characteristic of wickedly nasty aftertaste.
As a Guinness drinker, I'm blond-beer biased anyway, but in those rare instances when that's not available, there's a dozen beers I'd rather have first. Heineken is quite smooth, Castlemaine XXXX has a nice punch to it, for example.
Disclaimer: I have not tried any of the American bargain beers: Pabst, Schlitz, Colt 45, etc., so I could ultimately be wrong.
Linksys is actually fairly notorious for some of its models being known lemons...such as the BEFW11SA.
I got stung pretty bad bad with the BEFSR14 a couple of years ago (although I did get 6 good months out of it.), and have learned to check out the gossip on a specific brand before I buy.
Don't give up on Linksys just yet. The WRT54G is a great model (particularly with some of the firmware upgrades out there.), although I've also been happy with most of D-Link's offerings (I just don't like their control panel interface much.)

1. Don't run as administrator. Create another account as restricted user for daily use. Most spyware requires administrator rights to install.
No. This works real well in Linux and OSX, but not in Windows. It produces way more headaches than it solves, because the concept of not running with admin rights is still fairly new in the Windows world, and there's still a lot of software that will be problematic. Unless you're willing to spend a lot of time troubleshooting permissions, it's just not worth it, particularly when you're dealing with a large amount of clients, who each have completely different needs.
A combination of spyware tools/AV/firewall and not using IE and OE will take care of 99% of the problems with a minimum of fuss and time spent doing it.
While the author of TFA is boasting a little, he's pretty much right on target.
In happier (and non-fooling) news, Enemy Territory, my favorite free online game, just released a Mac version, which you can find here.
Anybody wishing help playing the game or finding decent servers to play on are more than welcome to contact me. My friends and I love this game and are always willing to help new blood.
This review's going to get a lot of negative crticism due to the sports angle, but this is an issue (Bioethics) that's only going to become more important in the years to come.
Kudoes to the reviewer for the review and the thoughtful, interesting way it was presented.
Slightly offtopic, but why is TIVO failing? Everybody I know who has one loves it and is fairly addicted to it. I myself would love to get into the PVR game, as it would make TV a lot more feasible for me, someone who a) hates programming by the small, ad-cloven chunk, and b) would rather have TV fit into his schedule and not the other way around.
And not just TIVO either. It seems the PVR market in general isn't doing well, so somebody please explain it to me, becuase I just don't get it.
I was going to mention this myself, the wife being an avid Sims player. As mentioned, the grid system makes it difficult to get anything better than an approximation of size and space, but I found that using the furniture pieces as a base to work everything else around worked pretty well.
Regardless, we had fun messing around with the layouts for what is now our new house, and it was a lot easier than trying to do it all in my head.
Haven't really had a chance to mess around with Sims 2 yet,but it looks like you'd get more latitude with it.
Agreed. Many 3rd world countries with telco monopolies are pushing to stamp out VOIP by whatever means possible to protect their inflated prices.
A company I've done some consulting for has already rolled out VOIP solutions to quite a few businesses in __________, with contracts ready to close on a dozen others. Even with this kind of penetration, they are striving to keep as low a profile as possible due to the very shaky status of VOIP there.

Forget that, I want the old ZDTV days back! Back then, TSS was actually +1 Informative instead of -1 Redundant.
Well, if it works for the goverment...

While a link to TFA is nice, this picture it links to is much nicer.

Why not? I'll forget it pretty soon anyway!

It should be: Just say no, thankyou.

Nothing happened.
Now I'm sad. Why did you make me sad?
Woderful is not the word I would use here. Nightmare. Catastrophe. SNAFU.
But not wonderful.
Say what? He never mentions it, just that it's a step he'd rather avoid, not the specifics of why he'd avoid it.
Thanks for the heads-up on lossless vs. lossy compression though, I can bookmark it along with all the others I've read on /. before.
