    Move Networks also offers pretty seamless rate adaption, so you don't get buffering messages as available bandwidth changes.

    I'm not aware of anything else like this availble in FOSS or generic MPEG-4. Most MPEG-4 software players and live encoders don't even support RTSP stream switching.

    Not to mention that vertically oriented jacks are not uncommon. In fact I think it often make more sense to have a vertical jack.

    No to mention CD drives are on their way out. They're pretty heavily entrenched but the space and efficiency cost is pretty huge. Think floppy drive.

    IF it's only linux, make sure it's accessible from CLI, on a Mac do the same, but add a menu item for EVERY action- in windows make sure each menu item has a button somewhere. Clicking buttons should invoke modal yes/no dialogs.

    I kidd, I kidd- honestly play around with IB in xCode and it'll let you prototype ideas and keep them clean quickly. Then you can move your model over to the native tools on your platform.

    For simple equations MacOS X's Grapher lets you copy as latex, tiff or PDF. I copy PDF and paste into pages and it retains the vector quality of the font.
