Don't be too quick to knock all standardized tests. I don't know about the end-of-grade tests in public schools, but one look at the SAT and it's fairly plain that it's been designed to evaluate critical thinking ability.
Me: What program did you use to download all that pr0n?
Fellow Student: Windows 98
Me: Could you be a little more specific?
Student: Oh, Windows 98 SE
This stuff happens to me seemingly everyday. Don't even get me started on the argument I had with a CIS student over whether USB 2.0 is better than USB 1.1
Even if his does get disabled, at least he has a spare now!;-)
I play Counter-Strike and other HL-related games on Steam and I also play Guild Wars. I constantly see people attempting to scam others into thinking they can buy a valid CD key for a game or get cheats from a dev team "member" and other garbage constantly. It's nice to see one of those jerks get burned.
64-bit computing is fruitless anyway, unless you're a rocket scientist trying to measure the mass of Jupiter in grams. Think about it. 2^32-1 is a really big number. 2^64-1 is a HUGE number. It's just a gimmick.
NVidia's drivers make dual monitors a breeze, and they make them more useful, too. Now I can have Guild Wars on my main screen with a quest walkthrough and Teamspeak on the other. Productivity is up!
I learned by playing Falcon 4.0 that jamming systems actually expose the jammer to attack. The bomb or rocket can be put into passive radar instead of active mode, whereby it just detects radar/GPS instead of emitting and detecting it. It simply locks on to the strongest source of radiation in the area. In this case, the GPS jammer is the strongest source of GPS signal, so the bomb just goes right for it.
Last I heard, WoW has six million active subscribers. I've never played it either, but that's still lots of people. 6 million people is about 2% of the American population. I know that there's plenty of players outside of the USA, but when you look at it that way it really puts it into perspective.
My post would have made more sense if this thing would have parsed my comment properly. There was supposed to be a link in there, but it didn't come out. I tried to reply with the link in my new post, but the replies aren't showing up. It was supposed to link to this: http://www.nexgenwars.com/
If they actually believe a message on Myspace, she needs to get better friends. If some random jackass called me or walked up to me on the street or wrote me a letter telling me someone to whom I was close had an STD, I would not believe it. I have very little confidence in the truth of the things strangers tell me, and even less confidence in strangers that are on the internet.
Network administration is too narrow of a definition for a Bachelor's degree. What you want is a degree in computer science. CS doesn't teach you about Microsoft products or how to plug in an ethernet cable. What it does do is tell you how to make all of that stuff on your own, and in so doing let you gain a greater understanding of how existing tools work. A degree focusing on how to do a job will go out of style and the education will be worthless in a few years. Education in a broad field that is largely static brings useful theory that will allow you to teach yourself the things that will make you the money at a job you want...I think.
I tend to agree with you. Degrees are for learning, not making money. I'm in college now and many people that I've met couldn't care less if they learned anything; all they want is the piece of paper at the end. While higher education is certainly an investment with a hope for higher pay in the future, I'm inclined to think that college graduates would do poorly after college if they lack interest in any sort of learning in their field just as someone less educated would do poorly if he had no desire to succeed.
It won't be so irrelevant when God brings his fiery judgment unto all the heathens that would declare evolution as fact and the WORD of the LORD to be mere "guidance" rather than ABSOLUTE FACT!!! When it comes, count Europe and much of our own America as goners. I'm moving to Kansas!
Allow me to clarify, troll: Terrorists exist in New York City and London. They will probably exist in Los Angeles one day, too. Wiretapping is a bigger threat to me than any terrorist.
I think you're misunderstanding me. Authority figures pose a far greater threat to me than any terrorists do. Because of that, I would rather have the authorities restrained than the terrorists.
Azureus.sf.net says to only get your Azureus from SF to avoid spyware. Where is this "3.0" on SF?
So if you execute code on a computer, it does what you tell it to do? Better watch out!
The screen is black with white text on it, therefore it must be very similar to DOS.

I'm going to conduct some stimulating research with my digits about this "porn" you speak of. That's what they want, right?

It'll probably go over about as well as that Panasonic Gamesube that played DVD's. Too expensive, not worth the effort.
I think my CS degree in progress has already imparted me with the correct IT skills to be an excellent "virtual worker"
while(time < fiveoclock)

something = new makesomething();
assemblyline.push(something);
}
Job's done!

Never leave mom's basement? You're talking about MMO's, right?

People who play video games disagree.

One day closer to Battletech or Gundam, whichever you prefer. Or, if Western humanoid robots catch up, Battletech vs. Gundam.
Stir in a litte Optimus Prime and I think the future looks bright.

When you consider how little I actually learned in high school, yes, my diploma is BS. Fortunately, college is shaping up much better.

My favorite quote regarding the whole search without a warrant issue comes from a video game, Deus Ex. It goes something like this:
"When due process is ignored, we really do live in a world of terror."
Allow me to clarify, troll: Terrorists exist in New York City and London. They will probably exist in Los Angeles one day, too. Wiretapping is a bigger threat to me than any terrorist.
