that a huge portion of our language was borrowed from French
And you should be even less surprised that actually it's "borrowed" from Latin, and what you just wrote tells us only that you're obviously French.
Oh, and don't even try it, French is NOT Latin.
Does this mean that someone luridly watching a rape video (real or faked) is actually a criminal too?
You forget that real or faked do make a difference. Do you think that kids in child poorn are faking???
This is a tired pseudo-psychology that has tried and failed to link TV to violence
A major difference. The idea that someone who watches a lot of violence on the TV is likely to go out and commit a crime is ridiculous, on the other side - someone watching a child porn may go out and and try it hmmm..let's see.. probable at least, don't you think. You forget that with the TV spectator, the guy that kills half of his class is supposed to be a normal fellow and it's all TV's fault(obviously wrong). With kid porn we have a sick mind already.
Lurid interest in an illegal act is not (in the general sense) a crime, and is often a substitute for the real thing.
False. It's a preparation for the real thing, not a substitute.(yes, that's wrong, but so are you.)
There're different persons and there isn't statistically a way to know how many of those watching child porn actually go on to the next level.
to recognise that most abuse of children actually happens in countries where children's rights are totally ignored, and often takes far worse forms than sexual exploitation.
I don't think that anything short of murder or very serious injury can be worst than sex abuse. What are you saying, child labor's worse???
Anyway, I'm having a hard time arguing here, as I tend to be *everybody should be able to do everything without being punished, as long as nobody's harmed* kind of guy, and I really can't see direct harm of watching child porn, but - I feel it wrong, sick and I wouldn't leave my children(one day;o))) with such a guy , only because he's a 21" TV and a lot of porn, so he's satisfied and he won't touch them...
You can't stop using logic just because you're discussing an emotive subject
You can. As long as it's not in written form. General public tends to listen to passion and emotions(that's why they call it "General";o))), and this subject may provoke a lot of those.
I'm not defending child porn, but it's entirely
possible that it represents for many would-be
child molesters
You do realize that in porn movies act real people, right??? So what you basicly say is : We should not forbid( or should we acourage???) the "USE" of child porn, 'cause MAY BE some eventual molesters won't go any further. Give me a break , ok????
I still can't believe that this got moderatoed as insightful. For reference: South park - 406.:

Yes, when you got a frustrated geeky l33t dude, he makes you understand what he is(an asshole???), but a normal guy won't bother to explain you his resume, he'll just say his problem and let you deal with it. So : -1 Troll.
Plus, people want to own the book and feel it in their hands.
Yes, but some can't.
The whole concept is just silly.
The last 200+ books I've read are all.rtf or.pdf files. If it doesn't suit your taste, don't say it's silly. My PC is a laptop and I'm having it *always* in a sac on my back. Everywhere I go(and I travel a lot, say I even change countries from time to time), I have all my books with me. Know of any other way to take care of a large personal library???
that anyone interested in reading an 870 page book would go out and buy it,
Be my guest. I devore books and I'm a poor guy(read: *very* poor student(which travels a lot, but that's another story...;o), I can't buy 2-3 books a week, and respect to the publishers I read scanned versions. Yes, without a doubt having a large library is a dream, but it's simply unaplicable to my lifestyle, so don't dismiss e-books so easily. They're the right option for me, and I'm sure there're other guys that enjoy them...
...as long as SCO claims that IBM has introduced the code in the Linux Kernelm all claims for damages will be forwarded against Big Blue. I really think IBM know how to respond. The only problem that SCO presents for the moment is that they refuse to reveal the code and if they manage to keep the FUD going to 2005, believe me, they've won. Once the code comes in the open, it'll be replaced fast as hell, that's clear.
The sad thing about this story for the moment is that A LOT OF PEOPLE who don't know Linux's story, or just tend to believe that there're no self-destructing companies are buying in not all, say, half of the FUD, or at least feel disturbed. So, let's facec it. For the moment, SCO wins. And if the community(and I mean everybody having enough money to do something), does not work for a fast resolution of the problem, I won't bet on Linux continnuing it's expansion.
..this'll nicely divide the SCO legal team into two suits.
Is NIL.
SCO does not have a legal team. For some time now the company HAS become a law practicing firm. So the RedHat suit comes just like getting a new client.
What do you mean didn't do anything??
If you're familiar with debugging you should know about setting breakpoints and stuff??? The fact that you have advanced debugging tools, doesn't mean the code debugs itself all alone....
Is Run->Debug too complicated???? Are Step into, Step over and Step return dificult to find????? Or is it so different from the way VS 6.0 managed things????? Whatever. Nice troll.
But as soon as Uunet, the best connected site on the usenet, started to offer higher quality commercial connectivity, the free uucpnet vanished in a matter of months. And of course, once Uunet switched to offering TCP/IP networking, the commercial internet was born.
It's so plainly correct.
The moment the music industry(and even Hollywood) realize that _YES_ they should provide a legitime way to gather entertaiment content from the web, but _NO_, DRM should not be a part of it(at least not in the way they intend to do it at the moment) the next step will be made.
I'm a poor student, but I *will* pay some fee(consider that it should be significantly lower than the price of a DVD for example) as long as there's no even a slightest notion of DRM protection in what I get.
Anyway, I also think that he IS right, but to conclude: NEVER gonna happen. He forgets that in his example both: corporations and consumers have had the same interest, and DRM looks like the first time when that's not the case....
Dude, how exactly do you think they can probably stop you from adding/changing anything you want???? You think that a Lindows based pc for 169$ comes with a DRM or something...????

From the original post: Your questions indicate one of two things: you either have a burning
desire to work on BK itself or a burning desire to copy BK. If it's
the former, that's easy, send us a resume and if you are a good engineer
we'll hire you, we need good engineers with a solid understanding of file
systems, distributed systems, graphs and sets, and/or human interfaces.
If you are trying to copy BK, give it up. We'll simply follow in the
footsteps of every other company faced with this sort of thing and change
the protocol every 6 months. Since you would be chasing us you can never
catch up. If you managed to stay close then we'd put digital signatures
into the protocol to prevent your clone from interoperating with BK.
