    ...when I read the sentence I immediately associated the adolsent part with William Gibson and it was only after reading your comment that it stroke me that may be he meant the 007 novels. Anyway, both ways I find the review statement as a troll, someone being an adolescent doesn't mean he/she isn't capable of reading "intelligent" books neither that the reviewer should blame every novel intended for the young to be "non-intelligent".

    ...Brian Herbert's books are several times used toilet paper compared to his father's works. This said, I do believe that any author daring to right something on the "Dune" theme after what Herbert father did is either insanely stupid or desperate for money.
    Anyway, I don't think that the case with Henlein is similar in anything with this kind of heritage. It's true that, as someone stated above, a possible reason that he didn't publish the book for so many years mey be the fact that he didn't find it good enough, but I will buy it, and damn those publishers if it's some nasty trick to make me use my wallet.....

    Personally I'd rather have my face scanned then have them strip searching me because my credit sucks and I paid cash for my plane ticket.

    Unforutnately the first is not a valid substitution option for the second. As someone stated above(below, whereever), not ALL terrorists are in the DB's, so scanning the face of wannabe(or will be) terrorist will bring exactly the same result as scannig the face of Marta Stewart....well, except that she'll probably ring a bell and be get back in jail;o)). If the visual recognition technic is to be adopted it will provide another back-up for the strip searching not a substitute.

    Absolutely right. We're talking about sites intended and visited for/by developers. Unless a high-traffic news site(but not for nerds;oPPP) shuts down(very unlikely and NO I'm NO talking about DoS;o))) this whole thing will pass unnoticed. I don't believe that even /. stopping for a nap will change something, but I do believe that the NEWS of /.(and others BIG ONES) actually shutting down will make it to some of the mentionned news sites, that way more people will learn that this law is being prepared(let's face it, nobody knows shit for the moment)....

    Anyway, none of this will ever happen....

    I've signed the NDA and I've seen the code.... There's a misunderstanding here, the comment about the 1 000 000 lines is made by a non-programmer. I know that they'll sue me now, but I can't stop myself from revealing the actual snippet which is...

    ...a delay loop. So they seem about right. The only why to replace this is to handcode it(they've patented the for loops and reccursion versions as well). Too bad for linux. We're totally screwed.

    Yeah right, and why exactly they're the underdog??? Cause NVidia had slightly larger part of the market for the last 3 months, cause NVidia's quote is a bit higher(at the moment), or cause they(ATI) were the first(and arguebly still are the only one) to provide a GPU with DX9 support???

    They do "access" the hardware but it is still done with DX, what do you think that someone wirtes an assemly about GPU-s??? Well, yes but its called shaders and is managed by DX, os if they want to, there'll be no problem with backwards compatibiliy, which is, btw, absolutely useless, because noone will by an old game for the new console, and eveyrone that already has one , owns the console as well..No point here.
