  1. In Startling news... on Star Wars - KOTOR Rated, Raved · · Score: 0, Redundant

Microsoft, in cooperation with LucasArts, announced that the PC version will be released for the PC on schedule. As an added enhancement to the game, the player character has been changed from human to Gungan.

"...We are just giving the people what we decided that they want" announced George Lucas.

  2. Updated on More Rumored Fallout 3 Graphics, Details · · Score: 3, Interesting

While the "Don't fix what ain't broke" philosophy worked well for Fallout 2, I would like to see some upates for the 3rd one. Interplay basically came out and said that the entire engine was going to be the same for the 2nd one because the first one was so well received. For a third one, I would like to see a little more difference in the joinable NPCs and how they respond to your reputation. For example if you are evil and notorious, evil characters will be drawn to you and want to join your party. If you are the good noble character, you will get the "nice" characters. I think it will add to the replay of the game... Vehicles would definitely be nice as well. I don't want a radical departure from what worked, I would just like to see it updated a little

Either way, I love to hear about a 3rd installment of the the only game that can call itself the decendant of Wasteland.

Now that RPGs are pretty, the development of the plot seems to have fallen off. I too have finished DG, and also cannot remember the names of the characters in my party. I do remember:

    Brian the Fist
    Samson
    El Cid
    Marcus
    Omar
    Merlin

    from the original Bards Tale
    Damn I miss Bryan Fargo

  5. Circle of life... on Nintendo Dismisses Online For GC Successor · · Score: 1

Lets just call this the circle of life...

(I am sure that I am missing some things and probably have my chronology a bit off, but you get the point.)
-Atari rules the world... Everyone is happy.
-Colecovision and Intellivision come out and Atari dies.
-Sega Master System and Nintendo Entertainment System come out and Coleco and Intellivision die.
-Sony comes out and Sega (as we knew it) dies
-XBOX comes out and... Nintendo Dies?

Whether the consoles dying is a product of superior competition or stupid mistakes (in the case of Atari and current Nintendo) the industry can really only support 2 console systems at once. I guess the saving grace for all of the Micro$oft haters out there is that they probably only have 6 or 7 years left before a Mitsubishi, IBM, Toshiba, etc. system comes out and kills them off...

Feel free to flame me on my lack of accuracy on the timeline.

  7. Market Share on Star Wars Galaxies Technical Difficulties · · Score: 1

I am sure that, technically, Sony learned from past experience with Everquest about the problems that plague the MMORPG genre of games. I would also be willing to bet that the release of this game was not due to the developers or technicians proclaiming that everything is running correctly. It is all about marketing and sales. With the number of MMORPGs that are due to be released in the near future, Sony needed to make sure that they got as much market-share of the techy geek crowd as possible. People are already getting excited about the prospect of Matrix Online. Because the Star Wars crowd and the Matrix crowd are probably the same crowds, Sony just wants to make sure that they are the ones getting the user's $12 month instead of someone else.... Even if it meant pushing out a product that is not ready.

  8. Battery life.... Battery life!!! on Sony Launches 2 New "Video" Clie Models · · Score: 1

Touching on what someone else said, the battery life is the biggest drawback on these devices. The current NX70 device has some issues in this respect

Normal PDA Usage: approx 5 hours
MP3 Player Usage: approx 3 hours
Wireless aceess (802.11b): LESS THAN 2 hours of continuous access

The truly innovative PDA will give you wireless access for close to the 5 hours of normal use. Sony will probably release it as the 3rd PDA they release in 2004.
