I recommend Colobot too: it uses Java, has immersive 3D visuals, and I enjoyed it a lot loong after I learned to program.
I now search for a copy to give to my nephew. Next best would probably be Windows Robot Battle, but it doesn't have a nice story behind it.
Why don't they explain what is the foundation supposed to do and promote, that Khronos OpenCL doesn't yet promote?
Without a clear, and well communicated mission this foundation will be just on paper, I am afraid.
Anybody knows what they are supposed to do?
CERN has 8 petabytes on just a CASTOR filesystem...
Not to mention all the data on EGEE grid.
Poor guys, they only quoted those _inferior_ commercial solutions:-).
Forgot that scientists have more guts...
And of course: don't you remember that Google has a SAN also?
It seems that all these standards bodies were prone to politicking and corruption,
but only recently it has become so apparent and stinging.
Still... ISO handled the issue better than ANSI or IEC alone.
(AFAIR both have accepted OpenXML in the fast track.)
Applying the rule to unproved claims seems to violate presumption of innocence, doesn't it?
I wonder how far we need to go, before judge obliges them to follow the presumption.
It seems to be placed in US constitution:-).
Instead of HTML 5, we need XHTML design process v2
on
W3C Considering An HTML 5
·
· Score: 2, Interesting
I see this a step back. I've already gained immense advantages by using XHTML in my apps, and I see it XHTML+CSS combo is much better supported than HTML+CSS.
The only problem is with XHTML design process, that is painfully slow, with unnecessary emphasis on 'modularity'.
Just give me a concise specs of XHTML 2.0, CSS 3.0 so that they'll include editing. But to do this, W3C would have say bluntly that the problem with XHTML was with the process and people, not with the technical side. (The same happened with never-completed CSS 3.0 and rarely-fully-implemented XForms.)
Hey,
I'm sure there is a lot of a prior art for that (say GMailFS?),
but it seems not the thing that the Amazon is after.
Even if all the big-bosses in Web industry (like Google) can invalidate the patent,
they may also prefer entering not-to-sue covenant with Amazon...
because the cost of lawsuit eliminates most small startups from the playing field!
So Amazon entered the obvious service market first, and they perfectly know,
that as soon as that service commoditizes, there will be much more competition
in the Web 2.0 industry. Obviously no big internet company wants that. It is easiest to enter the market
first, block it with patents and discourage small guys that may have opened another dot-com revolution.
My script will be now infringing the patent, when auto-rsyncing between/home,/mnt/usbdisk, GMailFS and remote accounts...
The USPTO has poor review process.
It would be much better if there would be agreed stable version for each Wikipedia entry,
that would be marked as consensus over last three months - most of the vandalities are only occasional,
so that stable version would be free of disturbance.
Cool technology! Cheaper and better coverage. What is an error rate?

...but what about sustained power generation during rain?
What about making it compatible with LEGO Mindstorms? That would be strong argument for education value of tinkering, wouldn't it?
US seems to have more IT-hungry market than Europe. Two names: Google, Microsoft...

According to this spec http://www.tr2tt.com/products/coolers/m15se/m15se.htm, Pentium Prescott could dissipate 1750 watts of power if given temperature that is 500C higher than the ambient.

"Disappointing for a nation with so much capability to do good.." -- I agree with every word of your sentence.
Yes, I tried. For some CSS features work well only in XHTML mode both in Mozilla and Explorer. :-)
Surprised? I was too!
I thought that work regulations do not concern lectures and short trainings? And least it is how it seemed to work in most civilized countries... :-)

I wanted EU to mandate the same. It's such a pain to forget your charger on a trip...

No longer too fuzzy... It seems that Sun will go GPL :-)
Why not to use Mozilla XUL instead? There are many proficient pure-Java implementations of XUL, including tiny Thinlet.
I thought that Oracle has a number of unpatched zero-days already.
I'm so compassionate to Thailanders, who first got very bad politician as a PM, and because of this, they got the incompetent junta in power now.
I'm afraid that many important progressive steps of the previous government will be reversed and Thailand falls into deeper poverty
I'll not buy Battlefield 2142 until some Anti-Spyware Bill gets in effect...
