    Well, it's $200 per machine, since the guy worked there for 10 years, that's about $20 per year, or about $1.6 per month -- the increase in energy consumption by running the processors 100% all the time probably covers a big part for that $1.6/month per machine.

    And you didn't RTFA: "Basically our processors were hooked up and running 24 hours a day, 12 months a year, every day of the school year," Birdwell said.

    If iPhone were made in the US it would cost $1000 or more, few people would buy it and both China and US would lose..

    I posted this in another reply but I see a common misunderstanding: The point is that was a type of crime that was not likely to be premeditated, nor his status update looked like a way to construct an alibi, any crime that can assumed to be premeditated would not be excused by such an alibi.

    There's no "lack of understanding of the technology" involved here, is your lack of understanding of the circumstances.

    I think you misrepresents the facts, the common sense told me that they designed the system as well they know, then they discovered the problem and somebody came up with the rebooting hack to keep the system effective. It doesn't make things better if told like this but it doesn't sound like the designers were so callous like you seem to try to portray them, they probably never said or thought... "it works fine just reboot it every 30 hours or so"

    Flash works very well in Ubuntu for me, I actually installed the 64 bit version... hey, that's not even available in Windows (BTW, whose fault is that? Microsoft's or Adobe's?)

    Most people with mod points must be lazy and don't browse in full.

    If you browse in full you kind of lose the benefit of moderation, if everybody avoids to browse in full then we lose the benefit of moderation too...

    When shipping and Amazon's other charges are taken into account. This piece of tech costs nearly $345.

    What shipping and other changes? Shipping is free and I don't know of any other charges. Even more when you buy Kindle books you get two discounts: first, the books are usually cheaper (not by much) and second, you don't pay shipping charges. I think that if you buy about 20-30 books it's like you get the device for free.

    While packages with better FreeBSD compatibility are nice, I wonder if getting more critical release bugs won't slow down Debian releases even more. If it's all positive development then is nice, but I'd like to know the downside of things too in order to tell if it's a good or a bad decision.

    No purpose? Many IE users won't change the browser but they would install all kind of crappy add ons. This add on doesn't even change the interface while most of the addons do.

    The more Microsoft makes fuss about Chrome Frame the more people will find out about this options. A negative campaign when it comes from a negative company is positive.

    I predict Blueray won't have much success and might be actually skipped over by people for a better/cheaper technology because DVDs are good enough.

    Is probably much more likely to see an Asian guy in a foreign firm in Poland... let's say Samsung, LG, Honda, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, etc ... don't know off-hand of any African company that might invests in Poland. As for American companies I would guess that that the percentage of blacks sent oversees is probably lower than the percentage of blacks in the general population, so I doubt Polish people when they think of Americans they think of blacks (while the reverse might be true, but the ad was about "Empowering your people" not "Empower American people")

    But I also guess that the Asian guy was left there because he blends better, color is more striking than other racial features.
