It's bloody nothing more than pointless fluff and a fair chunk of it is pretty harmful to society, especially to the values that preserve a countries true assets.
For a start, push forward third and fourth political parties, greens and libertarians, they initially might not be able to win an election but they can certainly threaten the conformable positions of existing legislative bodies. Each time you knock out a sitting member of the two party duopoly you put the fear of prison into the rest (the more independents in the system the more likely prosecutions will start occurring for corruption).
Production of the material can be quite readily defined as illegal, blocking the material is pointless, pursuing those that create it and publish it, is the obvious point of focus regardless of how difficult it is. Now it other countries don't wish to cooperate in the producers and publishers of that content, simply block the whole country, no selective deceitful censorship, if the production of the content is so harmful then the only true choice is to block the whole country or, is the whole censorship to protect children thing a lie, a huge disgusting corrupt lie.
It appears the true target of censorship is anything that might harm corporate profits including the truth targeted at false advertising, copyright protection where everything is claimed as being owned by default, of course political dissent and anything eve loosely tied to the concept of 'free' speech.
The truth is if the want to protect children from the adults internet then they should create a completely separate children's internet, one that's monitored for let's see cyber bullying (children remorselessly targeting other children), late teens targeting early teens for sexual encounters, early teens talking younger more gullible children into doing destructive things and the most evil of all adult marketing executives seeking to psychologically manipulation children into purchasing products via abusive peer pressure and distortions perceptions of what is of true social value. Of course those first ones governments will have no problem tackling but that last one, I'm sure corporate greed via lobbyists and corrupt politicians will do everything in their power so that they can continue to manipulate the choices of children regardless of the psychological or resulting physical harm done to them.
So it might not be a matter of cutting back on NASA'S budget but shifting it's focus. At this stage of the space exploration game, should money be spent on getting to the moon or should it be spent on getting into space more cost effectively. A big drive for creating new technologies for getting into orbit, rather than investing to heavily in current somewhat primitive Roman candle affairs. Not that the earth space vehicles of today are not technically advanced but shouldn't more be done to push the boundaries of escaping out of the gravity ie. investing today to save money tomorrow. Much like the ISS space station pushes the boundaries of inhabiting space, we should really be pushing the boundaries of getting there and back (although technically back is relatively easy), so close and yet so far.
Building and launching experimental motors is an expensive business but keep doing it and we will achieve significantly more cost effective means of getting into orbit and by extension getting back to the moon and then obviously on out to Mars.
A CEO does not leak information, they is the Chief Executive Officer, what they say goes until the board or shareholders, vote out the CEO decisions. What ever the CEO say as the CEO is a public announcement not a leak.
To ensure clarity any and all employees are honour bound to release any and all information that would be of public interest, with regard to fair and honest business practices as well as details affecting health and safety of staff and the public.
Hollywood still has the cash but it is rapidly losing influence to the internet and the internet seems to be working on that cash problem, as the various old world passive media is losing out to the more modern interactive media types are taking over. For ACTA to have worked they would have needed to launch it at the same time as the DMCA (which itself has been demonstrated to be biased and corrupt in it's application) or perhaps even the mickey mouse copyright extension act.
It is become pretty clear that 'club narcissist' (old world mass media, in it's leaders, performers, and ideals or lack there of) is losing it's political power and will start taking a back seat to other far more important parts of socio economic environment. It is pretty clear that it had an excessive and fairly dishonest and destructive influence for the last thirty which is now finally coming to an end (a narcissistic rage kicking and screaming end, involving many blatant and inevitably public attempts at political corruption).
The current school generation does have a harder time maintaining focus upon a single subject. I have noticed that notebooks brought into lectures are not always used for taking notes and more often than note are used for, playing games, social networking, working on assignments for other subjects and, doing tutes (about 1 in ten are logged into the school network and have one window open on the lecture presentation notes, reference material mentioned and another window for notes) . The biggest note takers are the exercise book crowd, with an exercise book per subject.
They on the whole do represent a distraction as they often chat amongst themselves whilst playing with their notebooks, although they generally skulk around the back of the lecture theatre moderating the distraction generated. Most Lectures seem unable to establish and maintain control over the lecture environment and lack the willingness to remove disruptive elements. An alternate was to record all lectures and make the available to view so that students could 'er' fail in their own time (the trend) and, be less disruptive.
The big fail has been in changing the curriculum to make it digitally interactive, so material could be worked through in simulation, in line with the lecture, enabling the incorporation of more in depth references during the lectures and combing digital indirect tutoring during the lecture (question could be put through to lecture assistants, lecture chat in effect, without disturbing the class), also full motion digital material could be delivered and viewed on the notebook whilst notes are discussed at the lectern. It could take quite a few more years, possible decades, for teaching methods to catch up (old habits and techniques are being repeated much like qwerty versus alphabetic keyboards, regardless of how nonsensical it is).
I've become a bit of a grumble bum, when I can across malicious sites I report them to the most appropriate authorities in the hopes that the miscreants will get prosecuted. I also forward all spam that gets through to the appropriate authority for investigation and hopefully prosecution. Sometimes being at little more active and 'FREELY' sharing the responsibility for internet security can be more beneficial.
We certainly don't want a computer tax, that private corporation will collect, skim their profit margin off the top and hold onto the payment for as long as possible to bump up their cash flow (earn interest upon your tax payments). This whole taxing, licensing, policing by private corporations for their benefit (censorship and enforced 24/7 marketing) is a really really bad idea.
So simply become an active part of policing, that means jsut reporting no anal uptight vigilante crap. Note down the address, detail it's actions and send off an email, forward all spam and and, report all likely bot attacks forward logs and IP addresses. The police do not up uphold the law, they were never meant to be 'Law Enforcers' (that's the job of correctional services officers in rehabilitative institutions), they are meant to assist the public in upholding the law. As for corporations STFU and stick to running your business and stay the fuck away from trying to run the country, as individuals you can of course participate as corporate executives piss off.
The idea is, they shouldn't become to reliant upon a single piece of evidence. You should not be automatically declared guilty because they found a single hair follicle at the scene of a crime. The DNA database concept is all about lazy policing and lazy prosecution, about looking good at promotion time rather than pursuing and proving the truth. The reality is you want a better justice system, don't look for the easy dumb solutions, start penalising people for false prosecution, hold them personally accountable for passing sentence upon innocent people. Police should really have nothing to do with prosecution, they should be neutral investigators who compile all the evidence for and against and let the prosecution and the courts sort it out focus upon building trust with the community rather than seeking promotion by attacking it.
I would think you would have more to fear from your barber and a possible black market in DNA traces, for investigative misdirection. Who else might become suspect, doctors, are hospitals removing all samples or are they being put on file as well. Even public transport might be considered an unsafe DNA dispersal risk location.
Take it easy there. Google is not all that great at searches, it is just as M$ points out they aren't all that good at them and the need the governments upon a global basis to force more people to use MSN Search (I am sticking with that rather than the flavour of the month one), to make it better, promise.
The only thing that google really stands out in with regard to searches is street view ie. you search for a business that supplies that product you want, than scope out it's premises and check access and parking if you want to pick up product or meet with the suppliers of that product or service (also really usefully for emailing directions to your home). Apparently M$ has been politically playing in that arena as well due to their lack of a similar product.
Look all M$ has to do is stop changing the name and go back to the original, start providing uncensored (for marketing) results, do their own street view, completely separate the search company from the rest of M$ and Ballmer's control (don't even let him in the door) ie. drop all the bull and focus on providing quality search and expect to take years to slowly but surely grind away at google's lead.
Every one knows a violent environment produces violent children. An excessive gap between success and failure produces enormous stresses, a sense of no hope no future, so nothing to lose, no personal investment in the community, just a growing sense of rage from being excluded in a society that pursues and idolising exclusivity.
All this study is trying to do is create the illusion that the drone worker bots can be sufficiently mind controlled that they won't resort to violence when their life pretty much sucks. When they are continuously bullied at school by the right wing cheer leader jock strap crowd, when they return home to be confronted by all the things they can't have in saturation marketing, all in a society where violence is celebrated in the news, movies and TV, in close association with reminders of what they have been excluded from, modern marketing specifically driving psychological stresses to induce greater and more damaging need for shiny junk, done by professional who use their medical skills to harm rather than heal, on purpose.
The games are popular because of the violence in the rest of human society, people are drawn to them because of the violence they are already exposed too, the need to escape because of the constant fear and anger driven home by the likes of Fox News (the, "your all gonna die in there, all of you, your all gonna die", the Reverend 'let me in' Rupert 'Kane' Murdoch news network).
There are far bigger problems to fix than computer games, in fact the popularity of violent computer games in a society is a valid measure of the violence in that society. As a society heals and creates a more humane and supportive environment so the popularity of violent games will drop.
That these documents have been purposefully leaked and there is indication of opposition to it's content is proof of the exact opposite. It is pretty much certain that in most modern democratic countries that most of the conditions of ACTA would be opposed by the general public and result in disruptive public opposition.
The reality is, it is too late to try a force this through, to force the will of the corrupt minority against the will of the democratic majority. Not that this effort should be ignored or the the perpetrators of it should be publicly exposed and called to account for their corrupt activities, their intent to purposefully subvert the growing public expression of democracy.
A full public investigation should be made of who was involved, who sponsored and supported that involvement, who actually wrote up those bits of proposed corrupt legislation, what private interests were involved whilst 99.99etc percent of the electorate were specifically excluded and, of course what criminal prosecutions need to be considered.
From an Australian prospective, can you at any point in history, show when a Australian agent forged another countries documents whom they were not a war with. Every claim you make against terror can be pointed straight back at Mossad, they are using terror in other countries to threaten the terrorists that the Israeli government created as a result of religious apartheid. Failure to arrest, prosecute and substantiate evidence of crime is an abandonment of the rule of law, putting other countries citizens at risk and tarnishing their reputation to feed ego and revenge not justice is abhorrent and shows a complete lack of respect for other countries laws and their citizens, the actions of a pariah state, not a just and honourable state.
Now you have the reason why those countries are so upset. Use of fake passports by governments to commit crimes places holders of valid passports from those countries whose passports have been counterfeited at risk. Were the countries whose passports were counterfeited, actually participating in those crimes and, should any person carrying that countries passports now be suspect.
Just look at the way the US treated people who held passports from suspect countries, people who were profiled based upon their countries reputation. Those countries whose passports were counterfeited now have to pay the full cost of investigations to substantiate there non-involvement in the crime, preferably by capturing and prosecuting the people who used the fake passports as this is the only means by which they can prove there were not involved in criminal activities in another country.
So how will these cost be passed back to the Israeli government (likely hundreds of thousands of dollars) will the Israeli government hand over the criminals who forged the documents and, stole citizens identities, now putting them at risk.
I would do they sane reasonable thing, I would endeavour to produce the goods as close a practicable to the point of consumption using a skilled workforce, robotics and do so in an environmentally sound manner. I would not seek to put out of work potential customers, destroying whole communities in the process. I would not seek to reduce wages and working conditions to the point where they can not longer afford the products produced. I would seek to create working conditions they I would be happy with and would work in those positions at regular intervals to validate their suitability. I would seek not to inflate my ego to the point where I consider the value of the whole of the work force as being less than me.
Point of fact, I trained logically in the part of economy that can never be imported, construction. My concern is enlightened, I have no wish to see my neighbours suffer to inflate my ego and I can not be part of a healthy and happy society unless the majority in that society are healthy and happy. I abhor gated communities, the idea of creating and living in a country where you feel unsafe in the larger neighbourhood is absurd, I have walked from my home in the burbs to the city centre and back at night on my own and felt relatively safe, can you do the same.
These conditions are enforced to maximise profit. When citizens of countries working under conditions like these seek redress there is an inevitable violent corporate sponsored government led retaliation against those seeking better conditions. If after extended period of revolution violence better conditions become available, corporation simply shift t the next country to exploit their population.
Trade should not occur upon a basis of exploitation, you are importing those working conditions along with those products, don't think so, then why are corporations and their political puppets continually saying that first world workforces has to compete, not once but over and over again. Are you ready to compete, no sick pay, no holiday pay, 50 cents an hour and, unsafe work conditions as normal practice including toxic chemicals.
It is disgusting to think anyone deems it appropriate to sponsor conditions on workers in other countries that they themselves would not accept. It reeks of greed and lies to assume that somehow poor people in other countries are born to work in poverty, they are bred to be mindless factory drones from birth, cheaper than robots.
Yet look around you, at your fellow migrants, people who escpaed from those conditions who managed to gain a better life, according to you, they couldn't possibly exist because they are happy to be factory slaves so why would they leave.
There is a new global political shift, as the left shifted to centre right, it left a major opening for the Green Party. There are not that many people who are interested in the far right and it's singular exposed focus on making the rich richer and the middle class into the working poor. This opportunity is allowing the Green Party to take up the centre left position, leaving the pseudo labour parties stuck sharing the right with the far right, where they will likely do a lot of damage to each, creating the best possible political environment for the growth of centre left Green party.
