    The spilling of the coffee wasn't what got her the large settlement.

    Mcdonalds was selling coffee that was too hot for human consumption.

    Also she wasn't actually suing for that much. She just wanted her medical bills paid. She was willing to settle for $20,000, but McDonalds refused. She was awarded 2.7 million punitive in addition to the $200,000 compensory. Later the 2.7 mil. was reduced to $480,000, and the $200,000 was reduced to $160,000 because the jury found her partially at fault.

    On the main topic of your post (Sorry for addressing a side point, but I'm tired of that "She won millions for spilling coffee on herself" meme spreading unchecked.) the only thing that will get them to not make PC disabled CDs is if nobody buys them.

    My mother works for a hospital. (I'm not going to say which one.) It seems that the crappy IT girl (My mom's nemesis. I'm serious here they hate each other. :]) there didn't manage to get the system patched in time. While most critical systems (read life support) were not affected, some other systems (read the software that is used by medical records) were affected. This means that reports, some of which diagnos serious diseases, are unable to be delivered to the patients that need to know about them.

    Experts believe this was due to repeated thumbs down given to its site within its own results.

    A very good article. The only problem I see is that if people completely stopped buying music from the RIAA that the RIAA would use what was left of its money to go completely apeshit SCO like against anyone who ever heard one of their songs.

    Maybe there will be serveral types, and Intel works with one type of qubit logic and AMD works with a different.

    Seriouly though I think we should have some people theorizing the needed logic models at the same time as they develop the actual hardware components. Otherwise we will end up with >10e30 different implementations which set computing back decades.

    Just my 1.29 cents.

    Actually you could make a Beowolf Cluster out of a single quantum computer.

    Since quantum computers can utilize more than one state at a time.

    People like me would kill it.

    When I game I go in to amass as much money as possible in almost any game I play.

    Most players see money as just a way to buy things. I don't. I never spend money if I can avoid it. Each purchase is weighed as to how it could save me money in game. Armor and weapons reduce the amount of healing potions I need so they are a priority. I never heal if the potion would put me over my max HP unless the healing is free.

    Unless they had a ridiculously low conversion rate I would make tons.

    And I know there are other power gamers out there that would do the same
