People who believe this are typically people who have never had to actually depend on the police in an emergency - they have a wildly over optimistic view of what the police do. They very rarely stop a crime in progress - they come later, collect evidence, and ask witnesses what happened. Of course, it's too late for the victim then...
The VMS operating system was estimated to contain over 25 million lines of code, and that was measured over 10 years ago - I'm sure it's quite a bit more by now.
But the Texas deadly force statues don't allow you to use deadly force to defend yourself while you're committing a crime - and these fruit vendors are apparently breaking the law, so use of deadly force is denied to them legally.
I bought my Rolex in 1982. Worn it every day since. I expect to keep doing so until they finally plant me in the ground. And I can guarantee you, it's made a lot better impression at meetings and on bosses/clients/coworkers than any Apple watch ever did...
Back in the day, when we slew the dinosaurs with our slide rules, DEC had a product that ran on PDP11s and VAXes called Datatrieve. It was a query and reporting language, with extensive help. If you typed "Help me", it would reply that "Datatrieve is not in the counseling business - you should see a therapist, Priest, or Rabbi". Datatrieve help also had the feature that if you wanted more detailed help on a subject, you could type HELP ADVANCED subject, and it would give more detail on the subject. If you typed "Help advanced me", it would rely that "you are not advanced". A DEC executive got wind of this, and demanded that it be removed. It was removed in the next release - at which point DEC was deluged with problem reports from customers, complaining that it had been removed.... Datatrieve help would also reply to request for the subject of Wombats...
Actually, giving people immunity is a tactic that the government uses to compel testimony from a reluctant person - if you've been granted immunity, you can no longer assert the 4th amendment right to remain silent, since you can no longer incriminate yourself. If he refuses to talk after getting immunity, he's going to the jug for contempt of court.
Speaking as Lazarus Long
"Anyone who cannot cope with mathematics is not fully human. At best he is a tolerable subhuman who has learned to wear shoes, bathe, and not make messes in the house."
Our universe was a soccer ball sized weapon stored in a missile rack on one of the star cruisers of the high masters. It was fired at an enemy installation during the ieter-universal wars. Our universe is just the debris field that occurred after detonation.
That's odd - the ones that my cable company sends to the house don't seem like they could even read, much less look stuff up in a book. The last one was trying to provision a new cable modem and couldn't get it to register. He called headquarters to get someone on the line to help him. He kept trying to read them the MAC address. I stopped him and told him, that's probably the serial number he's reading and not the MAC address. He truculently asked what made me think that? I replied that it was too long, and that MAC addresses, being hex numbers, don't have Q, S, Z or W in them...
Stop - every word is wrong. Gun sales skyrocket after a tragedy not because of gun company marketing. but because of all the gun banning rhetoric the liberal politicians spew. People think they need to stock up before bans go into place. If the issue of gun control had never ever been mentioned, the ownership of guns would very likely be half what it is today. Talk about the law of unintended consequences...

Calling out the superstitious on the subject of their delusions is not being a bigot.

$110 billion....probably could have had a Moon Base for that much money...

Or alt.folklore.urban. Some world class trolling occurred there, back in the day.

If it's a well written exam, access to 8GB of cheating info wouldn't help...

I picture Justin Long playing the doctor from the movie "Idiocracy"....

It's not music.
Errr...no thanks. I appreciate the recommendations and all, but I prefer music to rap and hip hop.
If you like your privacy, you can keep your privacy.
Don't need an excavator - it's one of those "shovel ready jobs" we heard so much about.
Actually, I'd be delighted hear that we are going to start leeching all of the fluids out of the bodies of rap so-called musicians...
Digg was like this right before the end.
John Romero is about to make you his bitch!
TIme for some enterprising quadcopter company to get a multimillion dollar contract to design and build "drone interceptors".
My PC's constant recommendations that I should install Windows 10 is starting to remind me of the Talky Toaster on Red Dwarf.

Samuel Clemens said that two moves equals one fire.
