I would've thought they'd be giving the pre-order/beta testers a better special ability than this sounds like...
Kinda like the various AIs from previous Matrixes, especially since the beta testers are going to help the newbies a lot when the non-preorder customers first log in.
by default, the most popular email clients have HTML turned on, and the majority of people don't know you can view emails as text only, not to mention how to deactivate HTML email.
some other people discussed how if the wire is severed, the space module can just reel out a bit more slack to make up for the lost Earth-side portion.
If the wire was severed, wouldnt the space module be flung out into space? I think the space module would have to have thrusters to make sure this doesnt happen.
I had a similar idea, except that the interior windshield surface would be a television screen wired to a camera, with glare control and optional nightvision.
I'd like to see cars sold with optional hydraulics (or "bags" if the car design doesnt allow for hydros) with computer-assisted controls and programmable activation sequences.
Take the Baltovich case for example... it's about to be re-examined in court due to new evidence pointing the finger at Paul Bernardo.
I'm not saying he's innocent, but if it's demonstrated that he is, then the guy's been in jail 14 years too many.
And if there had been a death penalty, and he had been "processed" quickly, then there would be no way to bring him back from the dead and give him a life back.
not to mention that if people stopped making viruses, the anti-virus companies would go bankrupt...
so IMO it's in those companies' vital interest to make sure everyone and their dog knows that the virus menace is everywhere and affects (potentially!) everyone.
Being late to the discussion, I didn't real every single comment, so I don't know how redundant I am, but as a counterbalance to all the guys talking about copyrights and privacy, I say it's MUCH more likely that someone took photos of their own and concocted a lost-and-found story to make ordinary pictures look more interesting.
I mean, what are the odds that 1) someone loses a memory card, and that 2) someone with compatible hardware to read it finds it, and that 3) the finder also happens to have an interest in blogging AND 4) doesn't care whether or not the owner of the photos minds having his privacy exposed to the Internet?
Of course I could be wrong, but I wager the odds are in favour of this story being pure, unadulterated smelly bullshit.
Lucas: Just because the market has shifted so dramatically. A lot of people are getting very worried about piracy. That has really eaten dramatically into the sales. It really just came down to, there may not be a market when I wanted to bring it out, which was like, three years from now. So rather than just sit by and watch the whole thing fall apart, better to bring it out early and get it over with.
My bold. I wonder what the MPAA's take is on this...

"Chinese is a pretty big place, buddy... where exactly in Chinese are you from?"

do they really need to have the wire anchored on a sea platform?
Why not reel it in when it's not in use, and reel it out when it's needed?
Proton (singing):
Yes,yes,yes,yes,yes
Positivity YES
Have U had your plus sign 2 day?
Positivity YES
Do we mark U present, or do we mark U late?
h^Mac, h^Pod, h^Tunes, h^Book, h^Photo, h^Movie...
"the flu's bad this year?"
Nah those are my company's new products
Googlux?
Linoogle?
Scary.
I would have thought the requirements for evidence would have been higher, ie DNA, fingerprints, fibers, etc.
What if you kill the wrongfully convicted?

Case in point, an inmate at a privately run prison in Canada died recently after a small cut on his finger got infected.
And I want my cell phone with built in film camera!
micro, 35mm, medium or large format?
Fark does this with surveys.
The last one I remember involved a survey on letting a bunch of cows loose in Edmonton streets as part of a "run with the bulls" type of event.
when the words "to slashdot", "slashdotting", and "slashbot will be included in the English dictionaries...
How about we post a front-page story to Merriam-Webster's and Oxford's?

and Han Solo really feels shitty about not firing first anymore.
and I would buy rocks and a fake beard from vendors at any public stonings of a spammer.
for strange Japanese USB devices, I doubt this will happen.
I admit that the sand pit in Jedi did look way too much like a really nasty vagina until Lucas put in the appendage with the beak, so that's fixed.
It's called vaginoplasty and it's becoming increasingly fashionable these days...

how long will it be before they name a hurricane in honor of slashdot?
Personally, I'm glad to be living on the upper-East coast
:P
you still have the remote possibility of being hit by a tsunami from the Canary Islands...
