This article was clearly written by someone who has no clues to this kind of work. It covers the basic steps although the draft described would not even work (designing primers just by picking 20 bp sequences without checking if you design them into some repeat, or other non unique sequence, without checking that there is no hairpin formation, no primer dimers etc, also he just says 40 cycles in PCR machine without saying that for each prime pairs you need a specific annealing step and describing what other heating steps are required in the PCR machine).
Other thing is that he forgot to mention costs and time to do this. Lets say a primer pair is just $1 (it is more even if you order the smallest amount) and one PCR run is roughly 2 hours (with 40 samples) also preparing 40 different samples takes like at least 1 hour of work. Plus you need the materials for PCR (PCR grade water, MgCl2, buffer, the polymerase ensyme, for like 100 reactions at cheapest you can buy them for like $50-100). The PCR machine cost will be almost negligible with its $1000.
Now calculate the costs and time needed for like 1 million SNPS. And you realize that home made traditional PCR techniques won't work.
Lastly what if you find some SNPs different than others. You need to know the different databases, you need to be able to filter the 99% junk from somethign valid since most of the SNPs are just variations without any change of the functionality. At best they are linked to some disease at a given population and could have no meaning at an other population.

If the above theory which was said to be commonly accepted by the big names of the field, does that mean that if you build such a computer which lets say works 80% perfect, that by computing the answers it will also influence our reality? Depending on what kind of analysis unit is installed in it (working on precast acrylamide gel or using a capillary electrophoresis system like in ABI sequencers or fragment analysers) the results can be less acurate or pretty much accurate.
Anyway a forensic DNA analysis must meet some standards and if this machine does not meet it then it won't be used. You can't give more or less accurate results. So if it will be accepted then it is accepted because it meets the standard and can provide accurate analysis. Otherwise it would be first of all waste of DNA (this can be crucial in some cases when there are not enough sample) and waste of money as the result has to be double checked at a certified lab.

Prions are NOT replicating themselves, they just force their misconfigured shape to other already created proteins...ie native protein had to be created (that is not replication either, as it is made from mRNA template) and folded prior. Later on if happens something one of these created proteins and it takes a wrong form it either reverts its working good shape or if it finds another badly configured then the shit starts and these aggregates forces more and more good shape protein into the bad shape one. So I would call it rather "rotting" than replication (a few bad apples can make the good ones rot) as these proteins are NOT copiing themselves.

Sorry about the rant but that's my opinion about Adobe's "commitment" to Linux. And I think it is good, there are more choices and I hope that gpdf and open source alternatives will get to the same level and less bloat in the next years.
I always tought that energy is downgrading and entropy is increasing, ie at the big bang the energy was all highly condensed high energy and it downgrades to background radiation. Could you change this background radiation back again to a higher frequency/energy wave?
