is how it trys to portray LOTR as warmongering, which means he absoutely missed the point...
"In those days, even if those days are set in an Oxford don's fantasy life, war was war, war was man's business, up was up, down was down, enemies were demons, and best of all, killing them was holy work about which no one had to be guilty. It's nice to deal with a war that, though rendered in color, still plays in moral black-and-white.
Thus one hallmark of the modern old-fashioned war movie is a high body count, combined with moral righteousness. It's better that way, don't you think? It's certainly easier."
Wrong. LOTR is all about how war can be forced upon a society and you MUST fight. But once the battle begins, noble intentions and ideals are thrown out the window. Neither the men, elves, dwarves, or orcs are any less brutal or more noble once the fighting begins. There comes a time when in order to preserve your freedom, you must become your enemy, you must embrace evil in order to defeat it. And then, victory or defeat, you will have lost something. They were all changed by the war, and none of them for the better. The scene at the end where the Hobbits were sitting in the old bar and give each other a look and a half-hearted toast...THAT is the point of the movies. You are forced into a battle you don't want, you have to become savage and do things you would never have imagined doing before, and then at the end of the day once you can return to your lives, you find that you can't. Your old life, the life you fought for, is gone.
It isn't about black and white. It is about how what looks to be black and white is only a million shades of gray.
However, if I accumulate say in game currency which is exchangeable in some form with real world currency (ie, selling credits on ebay) then wouldn't theft of the ingame currency constitute a real-world loss and therefore be covered under theft laws?
But I'm getting a bit sick of the "clone wars" happening in gaming. BF is outstanding. After a year I still play it far more than I should, but they are just taking it and reskinning it for Star Wars. I want to play KOTOR because it is different. It actually puts you in the universe. But on the other hand, we already have a BF mod with Wookie skins and AT-ATs. Why do we need to go out and buy a whole game?
And how long until we see LucasArts filing suit against the Galactic Conquest team? http://www.galactic-conquest.net/
If this ever has a chance of being successful, it has to win the price war. Corporations are so hesitent to look at AMD, especially for servers, the only way they will win is through that great cost/benefit analysis bull.
To each their own. I also bought it the day it came out and really enjoyed it. I actually just reinstalled it about 2 weeks ago and am playing it through again. Yeah, the tilesets are VERY repetitive, but I find the gameplay to be quite fun. It is a nice blend between the clickfest of a Diablo and the slower turnbased play of the older Baulder's Gate series.
You may actually get me to reinstall this game. I played like a fiend when it first came out, but got bored with the single player and it felt the the mp was just the sp all over again, and again, and again...
If there are decent mods out now, it may be worth a fresh look.
I love my RTV, and I'd still buy another even if they stripped out CA. As long as I can still pull the shows off to my pc and burn them to DVD, I'll use it.
BUT, if they keep taking out these features, then they are removing the exact thing which makes them different (superior?) to Tivo. I hope D&M know what they are doing...other than avoiding lawsuits.

That it has been in development so long that it is going to contain its own operating system. They've certainly had time to build one.

I would certainly go in a heartbeat if I had the option, but I don't know of the payload capacity of SS1...can it hold passengers as well as crew?

The fact that the proles rebelled and killed the unkillable God when they were supposed to be killing each other. It is insurrection at its best.
AMD is hedging their bets. They have a shot at leading the 64-bit field and at the same time not loosing legacy users.

Yeah, I think this will be great, but the one downside is that I generally play single-player and this is designed for multi. Oh well.
