How many people, who work from home on a regular basis, DON'T use a laptop with docking station set-up these days, and carry the ONE device back and forth ?
As a hardware support monkey that is the general setup where I work.
to ensure that the music industries right to profit is protected ?!? This type of thing is SOOOO far from the schools stated objective that it blows my mind....
as long as there is ONE user out there transfering LEGAL stuff then the use is valid. There are tons of EXISTING laws about copyright infrignment, IP theft, and Child Porn, use the current statutes and stop making a tool illegal. I am not trying to justify the people out there stealing, but just because a tool CAN be used to steal doesn't mean it should be illegal. There is no reasonable end to that line of thought....
looking at the Thai equivalent of $450.00, in a country that sponsors manufacturing in a heavy way. It is not outside the realm of possibility. The machine that you and I can get assuming M$ Government ever allows them in the western world will include many surcharges and a profit margin at about 1000%, which accounts for the $800 price tag you are reasonably quoting.
is going to be thicker than the overall note hence detectable, one SOLID wack with a hammer and no rfid tag....The abuse money takes is gonna make this happen alot anyways. Heck here is a great use for the rfid white noise generator:)
true, but if they were 'given' to the GPL by IBM, who did not legally own them, I don't know how that would classify as independent invention. Either way this is gonna be messy and the only ones winning are the lawyers:(
I've only got one 802.11b connection for my laptop, the rest of my house is physically wired with Cat6, but your notion of a disclaimer does make sense, everything else has one, and if the devices did then oh well. The modem example is not really appropriate though because there IS an FCC mandated speed limit and a note on the box stating that you'll be the "luckiest man man man man man on the planet planet planet planet" to actually approach that speed anyways:)
The rules on trade secrets give them legal recourse to recover money for the LOST SECRETS, but once out in the open they are SECRETS NO MORE and can't be stuffed back in the bottle.
Cracker, Hackers, it is all relative...It depends on which side of the cell bars you are currently on. Crackers you pay for, Hackers you get for free as a M$ like bonus feature to the WWW:)
Ratified standard or not the hardware was manufactured and sold by a company making claims to 45 Mbps. I'd just take it back, 40% of the advertised thoughput IS NOT AN ACCEPTABLE margin.
this AC has it....I don't think there will be a monetary loss, but there is a license violation that has been ongoing for more than a year. The software itself is not of great value without their hardware, but the developments they made to the code base may have been useable and sparked something else, but quantifying that is going to be next to impossible.
moved into more lucrative positions. Match my current salary and I'll go back to hexdump processing, IMS MTO, CICS batch, MVS/TSO, JES3/2, VM, REXX, DOS/VSE you name it. I've been a mainframe/mid-range support in nearly every environment around, I can even roll a VTAM sub-area:) But M$ exchange cluster design and management pays MUCH better.
you can outlaw based on violence against cops ?!?! I am going to sue because I am NOT a COP and now the state is advocating violence against me:)
Tell me....is it mold from all the rain that makes people retarded up there ? or do you guys just leave your politicians out.. How many times has your father told you to put your toys away..now see what you get...

they would if the labels did'nt rip them off for publicity costs....Why they don't use FREE sources like the web I don't know, instead they PAY HUGE sums to radio stations already in their pocket...It is a u scratch my scrotum, I'll scratch ur scrotum deal. Only the musicians loose out....and the consumer/cumstomer of course...
there will be a couple of loud voices,THAT will be the screams of the 2 or 3 people willing to speak out about personal freedom, being beaten into submission and shipped to a work farm for RE-EDUCATION.
should creat err umm a backup copy in case the professor ever 'loses' his, and then you can always let him know you are 'covering his back' for him. I hear tenured professors make a lot more than PC tech-support folks:)

is that utilizing compression ? I KNOW i've seen the FCC rule in print, not that I am doubting you but how do they rationalize it ?
