    An uncontrollable net storm caused by a virus, or an idiot admins' decision to block port 80 on a whole segment vs pushing individual machines off
    as they were identified as infected. If you are looking for a refund for the FIRST you should sit down and be quiet, IF you are looking for a refund for the SECOND then I APPLAUD your efforts.

    but that sounds like every workday for me, though you have 30 more technicians(?) to assist. Our little network group consists of 4 router techs, 5 wireheads, and 9 logical networking staff to deal with SNA, TCP, DLC, ATM, for nearly 4000 clueless employees. The best advice I can offer is DHCP all the way. More headache on the infrastructure team but easier to support and configure :) GOOD LUCK and MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU.

    Tribes2 is a bomb, even the company that made it thinks it stinks. Quake 3 is nice, but I think UT on D3D is just as nice, DOOM3 ?? is it out or just being developed ?

    Umm what ?? I have games that ran on DX5 and the run just fine under DX8. I think you may have misunderstood what someone said. In my experience as a die hard gamer DX is VERY backward compatible. Not to say that OPENGL is not good, I use OPENGL for some games and DX8 for others. It really depends on the individual performance. As a consumer MORE CHOICES IS GOOD.

    Most coders especially OSS are doing because they love it/have to code, much like some writers HAVE to WRITE. But who doesn't like an HONEST thanks and maybe a night out ?

    Unless your a fool you take the cdrom back to the store and get a refund, or better yet a new copy of an unplayable CD and do it all over again. Returns play hell with distributors, BIG TIME. You'll see companies go bankrupt under the deluge of returned merchandise.
    As long as it is LABELED CD-ROM, IT MUST BE PLAYABLE ON ALL CERTIFIED CD-ROMS :)
    Not that this will stop the inevitable CORP'ing

    the game that can bring my Geforce3 to 30FPS is staggering. I run UT in full glory at 1280x1024
    32bit color and get 90-100 FPS, note that is WITH dynamic lighting and ALL the eye candy.
    The thought of the amount of data to bring that down to 30 FPS gives me the willies. Is a good time to be a technophile :)

    a bad game EVER that I can recall. Maybe there is HOPE for the Quake series. Q3 was a poor 2nd place to UT in almost every facet. Hopefully they won't depend entirely on BOTs :)

    never had a problem with either. My palm will even sync with my thinkpad in the docking station.

    Let them privatize it, pour MILLIONS MORE WASTED DOLLARS into stupid business MODELS. When they go bankrupt because no one is willing to pay for it there will be tons of cheap equipment up for sale. This maybe a knee jerk reaction but I use the damn net to buy some things and to play net games, everything else is gravy.
