  1. MXLogic on What E-Mail Validation Tools Do You Use? · · Score: 1

I'm the entire IT Dept at my work and I do not have the time to manage our own email server, let alone worry about keeping it secure. Most of our business comes in via email and most of those are crafted to look exactly like spam with huge lists of names in the TO: or CC: boxes and no subject line.
My problem was finding a way to filter spam without filtering even a single legit email. Lost email means a lot of lost revenue. The only solution I found in a year of searching was mxlogic.com. We still get spam, but not nearly as much and since you get a filter report daily of what email was filtered, our people can see if anything was caught that shouldn't have been. The result, much less spam and ZERO lost revenue.

Yeah I wish I had the time and expertise to run my own email server and keep it secure but the fact of the matter is that there are lots of shops that just can't. This is seriously the only solution I have found.

It's not bullshit. It's just another piece of history repeating itself. History has already shown that there is only one way to deal with those people as well.
Last time I checked, Fox didn't give history lessons. You don't have to listen to Fox to know what the facts are. If anything I recommend not listening to Fox and instead taking a history class in college to know the truth.

Yes I have, and no you have nowhere near the same issues. I can open spreadsheets in Excel, Open Office, and Corel's spreadsheet and they work just fine. I've only ever had one document not translate back and forth and it was an extremely complicated one with huge nasty formulas. Yeah sometimes you get little changes but they don't strip spreadsheets of their formatting, cell types, and break simple multiplication formulas.

  14. Spreadsheet Wrecker on Google "Office" Released · · Score: 4, Informative

I believe spreadsheet wrecker would be a better name. I imported a very simple spreadsheet that I use to track my ink and toner for the company I work for and then exported it back out as an .xls.
It has columns for printer brand, model, location, ink or toner type, ink/toner model number, price, and how many I need to order the next time I do. Very simple spreadsheet.

It stripped the price column of it's "currency" setting and changed it to "general".
It broke the simple "price times quantity" formulas.
It resized the columns and made them too small to display the numbers.

This app is nowhere near ready to be considered an actual spreadsheet. Proof of concept maybe, but I can't see myself ever using it for anything useful. I can't imagine how much damage it would do to a more complex spreadsheet.

The industrial age is over. Corporations are now global and span across the borders of many different countries. When looking for the best company to do the job, you don't limit yourself to only companies that are solely located in the USA. That would be silly.

Infineon has plants in Asia, North America, Europe, and Africa. They have representative offices in 42 states in the USA, as well as in many different countries around the globe. Why shouldn't they be allowed to bid for the project?

Infineon's USA plants manufacture memory chips, not RFID chips. That's probably why they will be made in Germany.

Bidding for this project happened in May of 2005 and was announced and Infineon was on the list. It's not like this was some kind of secret deal. If this was an issue, it's kind of late to voice concerns now.

    Paranoia -- The Word

Paranoia is a term used by mental health specialists to describe suspiciousness (or mistrust) that is either highly exaggerated or not warranted at all. The word is often used in everyday conversation, often in anger, often incorrectly. Simple suspiciousness is not paranoia--not if it is based on past experience or expectations learned from the experience of others.

Paranoia can be mild and the affected person may function fairly well in society, or it can be so severe that the individual is incapacitated. Because many psychiatric disorders are accompanied by some paranoid features, diagnosis is sometimes difficult. Paranoias can be classified into three main categories--paranoid personality disorder, delusional (paranoid) disorder, and paranoid schizophrenia.

  21. Re:Popular vote variation on Proposal to Update the Electoral College · · Score: 1

If you're talking about the office of President, then they recieve a mandate from the Electoral College, not the people, and it doesn't really matter what percentage of people voted for president. That office was not designed to be won by a popular vote so any argument saying there is something wrong because it doesn't reflect the popular vote is invalid. It was designed that way by very smart people a very long time ago.

"A mandate to be president .. absolutely. A mandate to press foward their own personal agenda, definitely or at least very unlikely not."
What's the difference? A President can pursue their personal agenda all day long. We still have a system of checks and balances and there isn't a whole lot a President can do without support from the Legislative or Judicial branches. There would be no Iraq war if Congress hadn't approved funding. It's easy to slip into the belief that the President is some kind of demi-god with the power to do as they will.

    Mandate:
1 : an authoritative command; especially : a formal order from a superior court or official to an inferior one

Anyone who wins an election does recieve a mandate to act in the authority of the position they have won. Why would you think this is a problem? If an elected official doesn't act like they have been given a mandate then it would be very difficult for them to do their job.
