    I agree with you summation on VB6, mostly. I worked on a largish project in
    VB5 / VB6 a while ago, and we had a few problems with the IDE crashing, but
    my unhappyness with it was that we would get all kinds of bug reports from
    the field ( NZ and Aus ) that we could never figure out, unless something went
    wrong in the runtime.

    You missed a step.

    They dont scale it up, they ship the prototype, then
    bitch about how the software guys dont know their
    3rd points of contact from a hole in the ground,
    and why dont they ship quality, and they dont know
    business, etc, etc.

    Then, after the complaints, they try to scale it up,
    resume there, just as you outline.

    Yes, I knew that spellig was a typo.

    On the Ghandi / Gandhi spelling. Gandhi may well
    be the best fit, but Ghandi is not that far off
    ( in my opinion, of course, obviously not yours ),
    and might well be accounted for in regional or
    other variations ( who is doing the transliteration ).

    I, personally, think it is a bit strong to say the
    difference is an "error".

    I ran it thru Word's grammar check, and it liked
    "Its" better. Course, I probably should have
    used Open Office instead.

    And I think you have the "it's" wrong.

    Also, I suspect that the name "Gandi" is a transliteration, hence,
    as far as I know, multiple spellings are possible.

    Or were you trying to be funny?

    Then why dont they (the telco's) go ahead and offer this better service,
    and charge more for it? And if the legislation is "dont degrade service",
    why are they so afraid of it?

    I disagree on the UI elements. The joypad is nicer,
    but it is not more intuitive. It took me a while to
    figure all that out. The SA system does have more
    buttons, and is more "clunky" but the affordances are
    better. I have pretty consistently had a harder time
    finding some piece of functionality on the Tivo, until
    I have learned the Tivo way.

    I have both a DirectTivo, and an SA8300.

    Que the "you must be an idiot" posts in 3.. 2.. 1..

    They should make a better search engine....

    I suppose. But, then I have to ask, why are they bothering
    in the search engine space anyway? They talk about innovation
    all day long, but they dont do anything about it. They wait
    until someone else has created and nurtured a market, then
    they push their way in. How about they do some original thinking
    with all the great minds they have there, and do one thing that
    no one has done before?
