jeez, nitpickey. to refine and restate my question a bit better:
I know that CSS3 is currently under development, but do you have any expectations/predictions for what is to come even further down the line? Is there anything that is currently impossible/impractical but you would like to see happen 5 or 10 years down the line?
as a mmo vet, i'm getting kind of tired of the same old stuff.
unless the industry can produce a fundamentally different, engaging, content-driven game (with grinding to a minimum), i think that the industry will hit a ceiling.
it might bubble up occasionally, but people will see that its the same idea dolled up and inside a different box and it will sink back down. with the advent of wow, i couldn't imagine the mmo market doing much better than doubling, at best.
you have lots of customers who you need you to jam firefox down their throats for their own good. i'd say that most of them didn't go out and get firefox on their own.
i'm saying that the number who both use 98 and who decided to switch to firefox on their own are slim.
i'd be hard pressed to find someone who runs anything pre-win2000 as their main/only computer and also has technical sense enough to want to use firefox.
imho, it will turn out to be a good thing in the end.
google can't censor all of its content. it, to me, is better for the people of china to have access to SOME information through google getting their foot in the door instead of the people of china having access to NO information because google decided to let the door close.
perhaps it is motivated by money, perhaps it isn't. either way, in the long run, it might be better.
didn't they make a tv series about that?
i seem to remember the young adventres of indiana jones on tv at some point in time.
but i also remember rumors of the next movie being about [ominous]the spear of destiny[/ominous] or something like that
i'm just suprised the makers of the game will allow you to make evil choices. it just may be me, but i thought christianity taught people how to make good choices, etc etc. it seems like the game flow would be more forced to reenforce teachings and there only be pseudo-choices that lead you to one inevitable ending, neo.
Kendo is very structured as a martial art, and is more "search for perfection of technique" rather than the "sport" nature of western fencing.
just to throw my $0.02 into this. i've done martial arts for about 12 years now, including kendo for around 3 or 4. i am now a relatively succesful sport fencer because i wasn't happy with any other club martial-arts related at my college, kendo included.
after fencing all weapons (sabre, foil, and epee), i've discovered that all of them have their own qualities about them. the quality for epee, the weapon i stuck with, is that it requires completely flawless technique. the job of the opponent in epee is above else, to pick apart your opponent's technique. i've discovered it requires a greater knowledge and application of technique than my experiences with kendo. and our fencing club is quite literally 95+% science and engineering.
i still love kendo and martial arts, though, don't get me wrong. and kendo is very very structured. but because of that structure, some aspects of technique are lost. and you can't tell me kendo isn't a sport either. kendo and fencing both have structured rules based on points to determine the winner. just like any other sport. they're really much more similar than i'm sure you believe.
Medieval, Elizabethan, SCA, all that stuff is different. People sport fence because its a sport. People enjoy the structure of it and the fact that its a good physical and mental workout. There are frequent tournaments in almost every country in the world. Its in the Olympics. Its like comparing baseball to kickball (I know you played it at recess in elementary school, we all did). I learned how to fight with real weapons by learning many different forms of martial arts. And those also taught me how to fight practically with my hands in real-world situations.
Don't get me wrong though. People who enjoy medieval/sca/etc mostly enjoy it from the lifestyle and atmosphere. There's lots more than just swords and fighting to it and I have no qualms about it. I know quite a few people who are involved in the SCA. But you just can't compare sport fencing to historical-style sword fighting. Apples & oranges, friend.
Agreed. I fence epee and sometimes foil for a college team, locally, nationally, internationally, and intercollegiately. It was the first and only club I joined in college and was lots of fun. Met lots of awesome people. Travel regularly. Plus all the stuff the parent said.
last year, my freshman year in college, i bought a top of the line laptop. the campus is fixed up with wireless connection everywhere, including the football stadium. it just wasn't the same. plus it was even more stuff to carry around. they will get stolen if you avert your attention for a second. ditto for bookbags too. go for the desktop unless your major requires a laptop (many are nowadays). i decided to build my own desktop once summer hit after i was stuck with the laptop.
palm pilots aren't used for notes or schedules, they're used for inconspicuously surfing the net & playing games in class.
just bring pencil/paper/badass desktop and you'll be fine

why isn't IE7 doing a better job with supporting CSS standards?

no, no, further into the future. things that are just ideas right now, not what is being currently developed.
Where is CSS going in the future? Expecting anything in particular for CSS4, or will we never reach it?
it would knock nintendo down a notch in my book if they threw this patent around [unprovoked].
consistency is an even better key word.
/bad at spelling
not everyone can be the best all the time.
time will tell if there's a new big blue.
the key word is consistantcy.
apple could buy /., too, for its new sleek, stylish look

you miss my point :)

i have a 98 box myself, but its not on the network. don't need firefox for it. which is my point.
but are you using it as your primary box or just one you don't want to toss yet?

which one of these buttons calls your mother to come pick you up?
