  1. Buried... on Mac OS X Secretly Cripples Non-Apple Software · · Score: 1

    Buried as inaccurate.

  2. I did NOT because the site wouldn't work... on 38% of Downloaders Paid For Radiohead Album · · Score: 1

The site was so swamped I could not buy it.. it simply failed to respond. So bittorrent was the only option. I personally am still waiting for a CD release, as until bands release lossless audio (like FLAC and the Niggy Stardust album), I am not interested in paying for downloads. I'd rather have full audio quality on a CD.

  6. Isn't this illegal? on Microsoft Installs New Software Without Permission · · Score: 1

Isn't accessing another person's computer without their permission illegal? I mean if I can go to jail for accessing an open wireless network and I can go to jail for hacking into your computer to view your personal pron stash, then isn't this a punishable offense?

  7. It's very simple... on Copyright Alliance Says Fair Use Not a Consumer Right · · Score: 2, Interesting

... OK, fair use is not a right then. Take it away. One right they can't take though is if I choose to purchase their movies and music. Which, if they do this, I won't. I will choose to steal them or simply refrain from purchase and viewing entirely. If everyone does this, it will solve the problem entirely.

  8. Please let this go through... on Class Action Initiated Against RIAA · · Score: 2, Insightful

I do not believe in stealing music at all. However, it's clear beyond any doubt that the record companies have failed consumers and hurt the marketplace. They've clearly broken numerous laws. They need regulated and reeled in - and a substantial legal judgment against them would help everyone involved: us, the musicians and the companies. Until they realize the crack-like selling days are over and cds have to cost $5 - then it won't work. I don't want 3 million dollar videos, I want a $5 cd by a real artist that's recorded well. Hollywood delivers the goods on movies, why can't the music industry get their shizz together?

  10. Not very enlightening. on Windows Vista - Still Fresh After 19 Months? · · Score: 1

After all the media that has been published on Vista and comparing it to XP - this article seems to offer very little. For someone who has used this 19 months,I was unimpressed with the writing and the lack of detail. Very little true insight was offered. Also, quotes like, 'Some programs still have problems with Vista but the blame for this really falls on the vendor and not Microsoft' really, really turned me off. It's nonsense. Who says it's not Microsoft's fault? Some of the largest software vendors in the world have products missing from the Vista compatible list, are they all bad programmers? Part of the problem is Microsoft. This really seems like teen rant - I've had it and used it forever (and you haven't) and it's better than what you've got. There are better Vista reviews/articles out there.

  12. Re:Stupid people on Students Put UCLA Taser Video On YouTube · · Score: 1

He was a student reading in a library - all he didn't do was show his ID on some random check. Which in and of itself is insane. Do you want random ID checks of you when you're in a library? How about everywhere else you go? How about in your home? They did not do a good job at all and it's childish, immature, thoughtless words saying that those guys did anything "right."

  13. Re:One word on New System to Counter Photo and Video Devices · · Score: 1

Film is sensitive to IR too - in fact depending on the digital camera you have - more than likely it's MORE sensitve. Most digital cameras have IR filters because the sensors pickup IR easily. Film does to a lesser extent and if you look at your trusty 35mm open - you will see there clearly are no filters in there....

  14. 21st Century for Sure on Shuttle Discovery Lifts Off · · Score: 1

It's time for me to apply to NASA.

  15. One word - iLife on No Threat to Linux with Apple and Intel Deal · · Score: 1

One word - iLife. OS X can hold it's own. Linux is cool and so is OS X. Free is good, but I'd rather pay up if I get the better experience. Cheaper isn't always better.

  16. The proverbial $0.02. It is what it is. on Hitchhikers Guide Movie Might Become a Trilogy · · Score: 1

The books are legends I've read countless times over and over. So I didn't expect much from a big budget HGTTG. The movie does make concessions for a mainstream audience, but I still laughed and laughed and enjoyed every minute. Compared to most flicks made these days - it's still a 10 - even if it lets the book down a little. I dig it. I'm seeing it again and I want to see the sequels.

  23. Urban Myth... LCDs are great for design on LCD Screen for Image Editing · · Score: 1
I think this is one of those things that can be called an urban myth. The early LCDs were very poor comapared to todays models - especially high end ones that come in Apple Cinema displays and similiar.

Personally, I do design for a living and I LOVE LCD as I get no headaches like CRT used to give me. Staring at an LCD all day everyday is just easier on the eyes. Add to that 23" of flat widescreen real estate and it's a no brainer. I switched a long time back and would never, ever consider going back to CRT.
