  7. uhhh on John Woo & Metroid the Movie? · · Score: 1

why couldnt they seriously pick someone better than John Woo to do this?

because I can imagine it now, it'll be her in a space acadamy doing shit, with the occasional shower scene, sex scene, etc like in most random movies (though that wouldnt be that bad :P but I prefer samus the bounty hunter over samus the slut) and the occasional reference to metroid

from what it sounds like, this is going to be about the games as much as hitler was for civil rights.

however, if it proves to be better than the summary, then I'll be happy.

with the right people, the metroid series could EASILY be made into a good movie. because it's more realistic and more on the lines of a lot of scifi movies out there.

What would have made it perfect is if the guys behind Alien got ahold of it, then we would have seen some bad ass shit, and that would have been a respectful thing to do seeing as the creator of metroid was a fan of Alien (also was part of the inspiration behind the metroid games)

but for a desktop, it could work, and you can even download source packages and click the icon, they compile, voila, running program (at least in ROX)

I still dont like th feel of the Rox desktop though, it's still kinda iffy

  9. The biggest issue here.... on Making Things Easy Is Hard · · Score: 1

is the fact that many people have different ideas of "easy"

easy as in developer easy? easy as in advanced windows user easy, gamer easy? joe average easy? etc...

the first one is the reason I think it'll be some time before linux gets any share in the desktop field. because developer easy is sadly where most developers know how to go, they have trouble picturing anyone who isnt as smart as them, etc.

Ya gotta some times think that if you're making a product for the desktop, you gotta think as if you have the stupidest person in the world using your product, that way, it'll end up being more user friendly in the end.

  15. it might not work as planned... on Mars Terraforming Debate · · Score: 1

part of the reason the earth is still active is due to volcanic forces...

only way to terraform a planet and to keep it running is to have a stable atmosphere and magnetic field.. mars lacks both of these, why? no volcanic activity, the core is probably a dead weight.

if there was any water or life, it was long ago.

We're around because earth still has the elements that make the inside of it hot, and the core is still spinning, thus creating a magnetic field. thus less cosmic radiation, thus making a stable atmosphere. etc

the terraforming would only work for a while.. but unless they can jump start the volcanic activity on mars, no magnetic field equals a desert planet.
