It's pretty simple. Profit motive. The time of the solitary inventor devoting his life to the joy of inventing is long since passed because of an ever increasing need of money to pay for things that we have no choice about. A major example is insurance. You have to have it and you have to have several different kinds. In some cases, you have to have insurance to protect you from people who don't have it even though they are required by law to have it. What a scam! The other big one that most people don't fully realize are fees. Fees upon fees upon more bullsh*t fees. Take a look at the statement for every monthly bill you get and study the laundry list of fees that have nothing to do with the commodity you're using. And some of those fees are so byzantine that you can't tell what they're for. Case in point: my electric bill for the workshop space that I rent has a $30 per month "metering" fee. The same line item for my house is only $3. So I called to find out what the eff. The first person I spoke to had no clue what it was. A supervisor told me that it's for a three-phase meter. I said, "But I don't have three-phase service inside the shop." Doesn't matter. The meter is the meter. Beyond that, we're rapidly going down the rat hole where the average person can't own anything anymore. They'll "rent" everything forever and wonder why they're broke all the time.
What this means to the layperson is, "The solar industry can't survive on its own and needs a crap-ton of subsidies to keep it afloat." This didn't work in the 70s but I guess because "the right people" will be in charge, it'll work this time around.
Can you fix that crap? And while you're at it, can you install a politics filter that will automagically delete anybody's politically-motivated posting? That'd be great, thanks. Oh, and how about a Dislike button?
Cells are bombarded with slightly greasy solar atoms which forces the body cells to react, to protect themselves. That means growing skin. Told you. Perfect.
Yet another "reason" why using fossil fuels will be painted with an evil brush. OMFG, we won't be able to date anything!! EVERYBODY PANIC!!! Oh, 'scuse me, I forgot that they conveniently rebranded it as "climate change" to cover their asses...I mean bases.
I would classify any action taken against another that violates the target's Constitutional rights without due process as vigilantism particularly when it's politically motivated. For example, looting and torching somebody's business because you think they're associated with some view or way of life you don't like.
But the difference is that it's now much more widespread thanks to social media and a complicit mainstream media. Large segments of the population decide to affect what they believe is "social justice" usually based on misinformation including the premise that the legal deck is stacked against them. Too often these days what these people believe should be law isn't found anywhere in actual law but they don't want to be bothered with the challenge of getting a law passed and the risk of a majority of people telling them no.
Full disclosure: I'm not defending this company for what it does. For those of you who were tired of the old criminal justice system, be careful what you wish for. To these hackers and many other people, the fact that this company is not illegal in the eyes of the old criminal justice system is irrelevant. To these hackers, it is amoral. These hackers have decided unilaterally what morality is, who is guilty, and how punishment will be executed. Publicly destroying people and businesses that somehow offend somebody else is now the new normal. The old system of justice won't protect you anymore because even if the old system catches these hackers, the damage will be done and can't be undone.
How about simply hiring the people most qualified to do the job? That would probably be from the top schools but not necessarily. They still have to be able to do the job. History repeats itself particularly when people don't learn from history. Case in point, the early chemical engineering industry in the early 20th century. The guy who, in trying to create quinine artificially, ended up creating the world's first artificial dye was a Brit. But, he was taught by a German. At the time, the Germans were very good at opening universities and technical schools and letting anyone in on merit, never mind their family background. Back then in the UK, the people who went to the top schools got in because their family was wealthy and/or powerful. Because of this, the Germans kicked the Brits' ass in industry. What's happening now is the very same thing. Instead of biasing towards the wealthy and well-connected rather than those who are capable, we're biasing towards other social groups instead of the capable. Countries that don't do this are and will be kicking our ass going forward.
IMHO, This "church" should put their vast amounts of money where their mouth is and take all the mental cases in, house them, feed them, cloth them, and then show the world that they can cure them.
Witness the greed of people who expect to be paid perpetually for something they may or may not have created years ago. I'll bet anyone would take that action if they could. "Hey, man, I made what you called an awesome cheeseburger last year. You owe me royalties." Oh, wait, that does sound stupid.
These days, the people who yell and scream the loudest appear to be the ones winning political debate. Not because they're correct (they're usually wrong) but because the opposing side just wants them to shut the eff up.
If the data doesn't include the past two years or so, then yes but only because the price of gasoline was artificially high. Now that it's come back down out of the clouds, people are driving more. Furthermore, you have to call into question the opinion of anyone who lives in a major city who has never lived in a rural area particularly people living on the East Coast. Those folks can't really comprehend long distance driving and how necessary it is.
They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity or remorse and they absolutely will...not...stop...EVER...until you are dead.
Everybody knows this.
Yeah, it doesn't quite jibe with the expensive booth they had at the SHOT Show this year.
The company filed bankruptcy a few months ago. http://arstechnica.com/gadgets...

Oh, and patent drawings and language. So, outdated and byzantine.
With traditional surgery methods?

It's times like these when a truly clever criminal would make use of a social security number and fake identity set up years before.

Missing my point entirely. My point is not about this site or the company.
Ha.

Didn't Spock fend off some alien creature because his blood was copper-based?
