Then tell them it will cost to have it stopped, followed by a posting on your site saying, 'You Are Losing Your Ability To Do Business If You Are Stupid And Claiming This Would Be Blackmail."
Was thinking the same thing. Unless the PDF specifically calls out the National Security Agency actively targeting and attempting to compromise domestic SCADA systems, the posting reads like something Drudge would write about Obama (countdown to Drudge flame war in 3... 2...)
I was really excited to see the Xbox was adding a browser: We're cutting cable and the only were were going to miss were some shows on channels like Discovery. Figured I would stick a network-connected, cheap HTPC to the TV so we could surf discovery.com, etc. for the episodes that they put online. Only thing is, didn't want to spend cash to build the thing. New patch adds a browser? Cool. No need to stick another device on the network. But it doesn't support Flash which means it doesn't let us stream most things. Too many sites still aren't at HTML5 and so rely on Flash for video. As they say: Sucks to be me.
> One of the biggest shockers to me is that the police chief is in strong support of this measure
Um... why? Let's see, we've posted on... what? Maybe 20 cases where cops have violated things like people's right to record them. (Have there been more? Sure. Not the point.) In how many of them have the police chiefs actually been directly involved, vice standing up for their officers until the state AG (or courts) told them their officers were wrong? Now figure out how many chiefs of police there are in the country. I think the vast majority of police do it for the right reasons, which makes me think the majority of police chiefs do it for the same reasons. Proof? None other than gut and working with the police for 20+ years in multiple capacities (including ones that would often be potentially antagonistic when I worked for newspapers). So while you may personally be shocked by the fact that the chief is in support of the initiative, I think it may (possibly) be an unfair bias.
Sure. You can fire anyone you want. Whether you'll win a lawsuit is a different matter. That said, look here for an example of a religious organization doing so.
You were blackmailed by someone claiming to be represent your competition and then by your service provider. Correct? There are two things you should consider, and do so quickly before you've completely hosed your server logs: Contact your local FBI field office and then contact US-CERT. Yes, I know - it's DHS, but they track this stuff and have access to tools/training they can provide.
In a 2010 article, Svetlana Holt & Joan Marques wrote the following:
"Supporting Brown... assertions about the transition of narcissistic tendencies from business schools to business organizations, Pepper (2005) reveals a concerning fact about narcissism in business leaders. While this quality is often sought in corporate leaders, because the right dosage of narcissism can lead to optimal innovation, there is often only a thin line that distinguishes brilliant thinking narcissists, such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey and Jack Welch, who are also charismatic and visionary, from psychopaths such as Bernie Ebbers and Dennis Koslowski, who use their skills in harmful ways that we have all come to witness in recent years. Andrews and Furniss (2009) take it a step further and link excessive narcissism in business organizations to psychopathic behavior. They assert that, perfectly matching to the description of a psychopath, these business executives are superficially charming, grandiose, deceitful, remorseless, void of empathy, irresponsible, impulsive, lacking goals, poor in behavioral controls, and antisocial."
The thing that pisses me off is that the opt-out isn't a simple matter of clicking, "F Off." You actually have to send them something via snail mail, the same crap eBay did a few weeks ago. Anyone know the stats on sites that accept Google or Amazon checkout? I'd like to drop my PayPal account but don't know of any consistent payment methods (other than providing my credit card to each vendor.)

Just curious: Why not use Google's voice service? Can you set up multiple mailboxes, etc? Wouldn't that be a cheap, effective solution? I rarely use it myself (usually only when I'm too lazy to get up and grab the phone) but so far it seems good.
So is this the be-all, end-all of the issue? Is there no way to get the practice stopped via the courts? Seeing as TSA has lied to Congress (and ignored court orders before) it sounds like there's no other option. Please tell me I'm missing some possibility.
register www.churchswhateverareabunchofthievingbastards.com. Put up your side of the story. When they complain tell them that you're willing to swear under oath that they, are in fact, a bunch of thieving bastards and so you have the right to keep the site up.

So does the same recipe of urine and Taco Bell.
The problem with AC's is they're never clear about their feelings on an issue.
Works out well. I'm available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Um
Almost nobody does.
As soon as "the sources that get it right" start hiring the same eye candy as Fox people start paying attention to them.
Old joke: Know why they call it "golf"? Because the word "shit" was taken.
TSA is hiring.

And that, my friends, is why I only buy Dr. Pepper.

Why should we start now?
