The people that really know the difference build their own systems anyway.
Dell's products are stripped and devoid of the features that are a must for real power users. On top of that, they have a lot of their parts custom made, for instance the SB live 5.1 card that is so common in their systems is not even a true SB Live 5.1 card. Just try using drivers from Creatives web site or using their sound card under Linux. It just won't work.
That is why Dell systems are cheap, they cut every possible corner.
During the installation phase, test print. Went to cancel the job because it was taking too long and the head slammed against the stop so hard the printer actually jumped over to a new spot on my desk. The noise it made was so loud it made me jump!
I am a huge Linux fan but this is inexcusable. Had to throw my Lexmark Z42 into the trash.
After 2-3 years, most of mine have stopped reading R/RW disks, then it's all downhill from there.
Only one drive I had lasted more than 6 years, a Mitsumi 4x CDR. My kids used to go through drives every 6 months!
All the DVD players I bought for the TV, a whopping 2 of them, still work fine. One is a Sony that is coming up on 8 years now and we still use it.
Unless it can automagically WiFi Aibo to fetch me a beer from the fridge and grab my girlfriend along the way back for a routine JoyStick alignment while I am busy saving the planet {once again}, who the f*ck cares?
to get better pricing out of Intel.
False advertising, lousy customer service & subpar components included with every system. I wouldn't buy a Dell if they started using Cell chips.
Anymore, I refer people looking to upgrade to apple.com.
Consumer point of view: The more I read about Steve Jobs lately the happier I am that I never became an Apple customer.
Investor point of view: Go Steve Jobs!
Apple already knows this, three of the major PC vendors have been petitioning them for years to release OSX for x86.
This would kill Apples hardware business and they are first and foremost, a hardware company.
But I am totally with you on this and would dump Ubuntu in a heartbeat if I could run it on my Athlon 64 system.
you voted for him.
Especially on the 27 Mhz band, that's CB radio territory!
My MX Duo is easily hosed just by running a paper shredder 10 ft across the room. I love the MX700 mouse, just wish it wasn't wireless.

I will be getting a mini as well once they start shipping with Tiger installed (not a coupon), and in fact have been holding off for just this reason.
Being a *nix guy, I can hardly wait!
>I don't understand your post? That's ok.

Sounds like a sales Gimmick to me.
More like a tampon with batteries, hmmmmm.....
No bannana for the monkeys at Sony. I'll be sticking with my iPod Mini.
The FedEx truck hasn't even delivered my new iPod Mini yet and they're jacking up prices already.
