You can get your Steaming Crap with Chunks of Corn(tm) or Steaming Crap with Bits o' Straw(tm) but you're still getting a bowlful of Steaming Crap(tm).
A man gets a bionic arm to replace the one he lost in an accident. He goes home with the instructions that he only has to think a command to the arm and it will perform. Later he has a call to nature. He goes into the bathroom and thinks, 'Arm, unzip my pants' and the arm does it.
Then he thinks, 'Arm, take out my penis' and the arm does.
Then he thinks, 'Arm, hold my penis while I pee' and the arm does that too.
After he finishes he tries an experiment. 'Arm, stroke my penis' and the arm does. His unit swells and he thinks, 'Arm, jerk it off', and it did leaving him with a bloody stump.
This came out right after Chapter 4 and was histerical. I think it was produced by some college kids with a budget less than a week end beer party at a frat house. I still recall parts of it and remember the picture of a cartoon tractor that was the controller for The Tractor Beam. I wish I had a copy of it now.
Another stupid patent when copyright should be invoked. I supose that the sooner all the dumbass patents get filed and approved the sooner the court system will have to deal with them, the sooner the whole patent process will get overhauled. But then I expected by now to have flying cars, 3D TV, and a trophy wife, so what do I know. [*SIGH*]
Life imitates art... cartoon art that is. Wonder if Johnny Hart gets any credit? Too bad the link was/. already. I'd like to buld one then go look for Cute Chick.

IBM is still migrating all corporate users to a SuSE based desktop this year. I'm betting my butter and egg money on it as I just went out this morning and passed the Linux+ certification exam. So let it happen - I'm ready, helping push the trend whenever, wherever I can.
This is an old joke from the cockpit... The modern aircrew will consist of a pilot, a computer and a dog. The computer flies the plane. The pilot feeds the dog. The dog bites the pilot if he tries to fly the plane.
For years the Russians and Indians have turned out some of the best theoretical mathematicians on the planet because they have always done math The Old Fashioned Way(tm). Pencil and paper were available for everyone, computer time was not. The Chinese and other asians are great at computational concepts because they learn to use arithmetic rules to work the abacus. The abacus only holds the result of each step the of the operations. Machines are only good when you know that the questions and answers are correctly mapped.
It's still GIGO unless you know what you're doing without the use of the machines.
I just re-read a collection of shorts stories edited by Pohl who was one of the greatest SF editors of the early years.
And BTW, Franz Schubert wrote "Ave Maria" for his supper. He was invited to eat with a wealthy patron and then told he had to produce a piece of work before he could sit down. Writers and artists work for money. Hard to pay the bills with sunshine.
A chance to put on a helmet and have sex with Sandra Bullock! YES! Not that I need a helmet. I have sex with her in my mind, and several others every day now
Doesn't matter if the Taiwan president says it or not , Taiwan is in danger from the unstable SOBs that run China. Communism breeds paranoia in its leaders. Bringing down the force of the Red Army on Taiwan would not benefit anyone and would in fact endanger the lives of millions of Taiwanese.
You had best take a fresh grip yourself. Taiwan issues it's own money recognized by international banking. They issue their own postage recognized by international mail service. They issue their own passports recognized by every country on the planet except China. They have a democratically elected government recogonized as the legitimate government of Taiwan by the Taiwanese.
There are whole chunks of real estate that once was owned/ruled by a different government. So just because it once was, doesn't mean squat now. Or else we have to give back the Americas to England, France, Spain, Portugual, Russia... not to mention the Native American Indians, Most of Europe would revert to some one else as would just about every other square inch on this planet that a previous landlord wanted to collect the rent on again.
And this is Bush's fault how?

Since the end of WWII when low cost jobs and cheap manufactured goods started to go to Japan and then spread out over all of the Pacific Rim, this trend is more or less constant. Whoever got elected, Democrat, Republican, Green, or Libertarian couldn't cause any more or less migration to off shore shops.
If it was your point to bash Bush go to some political forum like moveon.org. And your attempt to make it sound worse by exagerating the number of daily hires (365,000 annual) only makes the point of posting suspicious unless you provide a company name and a way to verify this figure. And that this was an upward trend since Bush took office.
I was in Pristine, a internet provider and translation service, in Taipei several years ago and saw their servers. It was my first exposure to FreeBSD and I loved it immediately. In recent visits I've seen a lot of Linux being used. The Taiwan government is backing Linux for schools and business.

What it means is that since Congress is the actual body that can tax, anyone making less than a member of congress will pay more taxes when they go up. Congress NEVER raises taxes on it's own income level and higher. There are many multi-millionaires in Congress, Kerry among them, and they pass tax codes to take care of themselves. Corporations (think Heinz and not just big oil and pharmaceuticals) never pay taxes, they are just a collector. Taxes for any company are a Right Hand side of the ledger entry. A pass through expense. Raise taxes on corporation and pay more for your condiments. Investors have to make something for putting money into a stock. Besides if you actually taxed corporations all they would do is move off shore to a friendlier location like a lot now incorporate in Delaware because of local tax structures in most states. Same as they have done because of counter productive US labor laws. HR costs are much lower in India and China, etc. not just wages which are only about 60% of a company's cost of hiring you in the US. The rest is HR compliance expenses. When you raise taxes or labor costs on corporations, they must raise prices to stay solvent which then makes their product less competitive with a foreign made product. People vote with their wallets. Made or coded in China, India, Taiwan, or Singapore is cheaper, and there goes your job.
Looks as if you are swallowing the Democrat party line of class hatred and not looking at the actual process and results of taxation and the history of how Congress votes.
Another Democratic platform is codifying 'workers rights' into labor laws that companies are forced to adhere to that is the same as taxation. When's the last time you bought any thing European other than a tin of biscuits, wine, or a Linux distro? They are not expensive because they are good. They are expensive because you are paying for the outrageous taxes and labor costs which many European companies have to pay.
My wife is from Taiwan and I can compare the results between the two systems. And cultural differences count too. I tried to get my wife to raise our kids in Taiwan with a Taiwan based education and life stye but she wouldn't hear of it. Now we can see the difference between our kids and their cousins at the same grade level.
That US education is getting dumber by the year has been one of my rants for a long time since I was once an architect and team lead who interviewed and recommended for hire. I could barely find recent US grads who could think let alone show up regular. I was glad to have older IT workers and HR-1Bs to get critical projects done. My best experiences have been with Taiwanese who have outshone the Chinese mainlanders by fact of better education, better life style, and greater motivation. No iron rice bowl in Taiwan.

Have to run netcraft server search on it when comes up to see if it's hosted on a Winders box using IIS and hidden in a Redmond bunker site.
